Operating rates had previously been cut, now allowing to raise yarn prices. Cotton yarn prices could now drop further in China, where cotton fiber prices are eventually declining and demand is depressed from downward processors. Stagnating clothing sales at retail and falling apparel exports will force many spinning mills to shut down until after lunar year holidays. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). China's export markets are extremely volatile, if considering destinations, with sales surging to Vietnam or Pakistan. Operating rates could be reduced further ahead of holidays, but additional capacities are planned for the next year, which could result in lower staple fiber and filament prices.
