Cotton prices have begun recovering in the seven past days after sharply falling in the previous weeks. Although long-term data are depressing market prices with a much larger global output expected in the next season, short-term factors should boost cotton to higher levels when US cotton supplies will have dried up in the coming weeks. China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Spun yarn prices have heavily fallen in the last seven days in China, after fiber prices have sharply declined, especially on the polyester market. Poly-cotton prices have also dropped whereas the viscose market was less significantly affected. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Viscose prices have more slightly dropped than cotton and polyester prices in the past two weeks in China, having previously tumbled over a high level of excess inventories. Viscose yarn prices have been however lowered in the past days due to a lack of demand. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the last 12 months. Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Raw material costs of polyester producers could now rebound, in line with a sharp decline of operating rates being planned at MEG plants. PTA producers could however accept lower prices after having sharply reduced their offers in the past two weeks. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
