Data from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) should progressively be updated in the coming period, offering a boost in the arm of the cotton market. Chinese buying is also expected rebounding after holidays, especially if a trade agreement is settled between Washington and Beijing. Yarn prices have not really changed in the past seven days in China. Market activities are progressively being frozen ahead of looming holidays. The fall of the renminbi could boost demand for foreign yarns after the break. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester chain prices are remaining very firm in the current period, although Chinese holidays are now in sight. Polyester fiber prices have rebounded over a jump of PTA prices earlier this month. Paraxylene prices have continued rising, with profit margins improving at PX plants whereas falling at PTA plants, as reflected by our new price spread tables. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
