Polyester chain prices are now stabilized after experiencing a strong volatility in the second part of the year. Prices have stopped rising after OPEC members have failed in boosting crude prices by reducing their daily production. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. After experiencing a strong volatility this year, cotton prices are now stabilized and should not dramatically move until after Christmas holidays. Cotton prices could rebound in 2019, with China expected to return back to the international market. However, global use could be lower than currently expected. Cotton yarn prices are further dropping in China, in line with a weakness in demand from downward processors. Ambient pessimism in China should further depress prices with production being also reduced in the comig period until the end of Chinese holidays. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang).
