Cotton fiber prices have begun receding in China, ahead of the current holiday week, with the cotton yarn prices giving signs of weakness. Polyester staple fiber and spun yarn prices have continued declining in the meantime. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Polyester Fiber Prices in China, India and Pakistan (Weekly Report)

Polyester fiber prices were not far from bottoming out at the end of last week, before the start of national holidays in China. With crude oil prices now soaring and paraxylene surging, PTA prices have begun recovering. Polyester fiber processors could have to digest or pass a rise of more than 20% in their material costs since last June, if prices would eventually stabilize after holidays.
