Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton prices have begun retreating back to lower levels, except in Pakistan where they have momentarily surged. The looming trade war is depressing the renminbi and making it more difficult to predict how fiber and yarn markets will behave in the coming weeks and months, although prices are expected to stay at high levels, anyway. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Spun polyester prices are now bottoming in China, in line with a slight rise of polyester staple fiber prices whereas viscose fiber and spun yarn prices are falling by contrast. Yarn import prices are depressed by the sharp decline of the renminbi. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
