Yarn prices have further declined in India, over a fall of cotton prices in the last month. Yarn exports to China have again surged in August, with Vietnam however emerging as a major rival, especially after the TPP negotiations have been this week completed. Our comprehensive review of Indian yarn markets covers the domestic markets in Ludhiana (Punjab) and Indore (Madhya Pradesh), with a wide range of products and counts, including cotton yarns (carded and combed), polyester spun, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose and polyester-acrylic. Export market prices are also available for both cotton and polyester-cotton.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Yarn prices have mostly dropped this year in China, due to excess supply on the domestic market and lower import prices. The spinning mills are however investing in updated equipment and moving to the higher end of the market. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). The polyester chain prices have further declined in the last week, ahead of Chinese holidays. There is no sign yet that prices could rebound in the coming period. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Eastern Asia and in India, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Cotton prices are unable to bottom out in New York, in line with the current uncertainties over the coming trends in commodity markets. Prices have sharply declined in India, but they are rebounding in Pakistan where the production could be lower than expected.
