2018-09-11 17:20:21| EmergingTextiles.com
T-shirt and pullover imports to the European Union have recovered in the second quarter this year from the same period in 2017, partly due to significantly lower prices in exporting countries, in euro terms. Suit and trouser categories have also been strong whereas other HS import categories have ignored the overall rebound. Statistical tables are published with volume, value and unit value changes in euro and US$ terms, covering 61 and 62 HS chapters (knit and woven clothing). The full table is also available for download with historical data from second quarter 2013.

US Apparel Imports in 1st Half 2018: China vs. Rest of World (Statistical Report)
2018-09-07 19:23:25| EmergingTextiles.com
Although punitive US tariffs do not target Chinese apparel yet, the leading supplier has lost shares of the US apparel import market in the first half, due to the weakness in US demand for man-made fiber apparel. In many categories however, Chinese exporters have been able to improve their market shares, reflecting very different results depending on products. This is reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value and unit value terms. Historical data cover the past five years, from 1st Half 2013-2018.

The structural and long-term shift from cotton to polyester could now lose steam, partly due to sharp variations in fiber price trends, as reflected by our detailed analysis of US apparel imports per category. Our series of statistical tables offer a comprehensive view of volume, value and unit value changes, compared with previous quarters and years in 2012-18. Full data are available for downloading into a comprehensive table.
