Within the Flight Operations Division and reporting to the Mission Control Systems Manager, the Mission Control Systems Operations Engineer conducts operations of mission control systems for EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems, and supports the operations preparations of mission control systems for new satellite systems. What youll be doing Conduct operations of mission control systems across EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems, including planning and scheduling of routine and special operations, anomaly investigation and resolution, and configuration control and change management Participate in and, where appropriate, lead the coordination of monitoring and control operations and maintenance activities across EUMETSAT and EUMETSAToperated Copernicus satellite systems Maintain operations procedures, system databases and other operations products for operational mission control systems for satellite systems Manage system elements supporting monitoring and control of satellite systems e.g. tools for procedure development and execution, data analysis etc. Perform evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the performance and behaviour of operational mission control systems Assist in the management of interfaces with external operational entities supporting, monitoring and controlling of satellite systems e.g. ESAESOC, Sband ground station network providers, etc. Support the definition, design, development and testing of evolutions for existing mission control systems Participate in and, where appropriate, lead mission control systems operations preparation activities for the launch, commissioning and routine operations of recurrent spacecraft Support the definition, development and verification of mission control systems of future EUMETSAT and Copernicus satellite systems e.g. SCOS, EGOSCC Assist in the provision of training for operations team personnel. Qualifications A University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Skills and Experience The necessary skills and experience of the Mission Control Systems Operations Engineer are the following Proven experience in operations andor operations preparation of operational satellite systems, preferably for Earthobservation Proven experience in the development, maintenance andor operations of mission control systems Practical experience in formal verification and validation testing of ground systems, preferably mission control systems Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas and issues clearly and concisely with others Ability to plan and implement activities, prioritising according to constraints, interdependencies and opportunities. The Mission Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the engineering and maintenance of the Mission Control System MCS software applications and related tools used for the exploitation of operational satellite systems supporting mission control aspects of the design, development, Integration, Verification and Validation of new satellite systems. What youll be doing Management of the Mission Control functions maintenance activities, in support to the exploitation of operational satellite systems. This includes the definition and execution of maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, reporting and correction of anomalies, managing evolutions, maintaining and improving the maintenance working practices and processes Interfacing with internal customers e.g. operations engineers and analysts, in the frame of anomaly investigations, definition of corrective actions, planning maintenance tasks and releases, identifying needs for upgrades Requirements definition, design, development and testing of MCS applications, in support to the development of new satellite systems Supporting maintenance of the EUMETSAT Ground Segment Reference Architecture and related technical documentation for the Mission Control Functions Technical management of industrial maintenance contracts and support services, including the monitoring of contractors performance against contract and Service Level Agreement Support the promotion and delivery of genericmultimission and costefficient solutions for MCS applications to be used across operational and future missions. Qualifications A University degree in a relevant engineering discipline Skills and Experience Proven experience in the domain of satellite Mission Control Systems and in maintaining large scale software systems in an operational environment, preferably related to highavailability 247 applications Knowledge and demonstrated experience in Mission Control System functions consisting of telemetry and telecommand processing chains, procedure and schedule automation, data archive, operations preparation and ground station interfaces Integration and verification testing of complex Mission Control System applications Application software development with formal production and maintenance of technical documentation such as Software Requirements Specifications SRS, Architectural Design Documents ADD , Interface Control Document and Test Plans Application Lifecycle Management functions such as configuration management, continuous integration, continuous deployment and anomaly tracking Java and C programming languages and related development environments as well as open source solutions and technologies Knowledge of CCSDS and ECSS standards relevant to the MCS domain Knowledge of one or more of the following domainssystems would be an advantage spacecraft simulations, ESA MICONYS, SIMULS, DABYS software suites Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to apply them to activities within and across teams. Reporting to the Head of the Flight Operations FLO Division, the Mission Control Systems Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, supervision and execution of mission control systems operations in support of spacecraft operations, working in close coordination with teams performing the operations of other systems. Heshe also supports operations preparation for recurrent spacecraft and the introduction of next generation satellite systems. What youll be doing Manage the Mission Control Systems Team of the Flight Operations Division Supervise and coordinate operations of mission control chains providing essential satellite monitoring and control capabilities across all satellite systems exploited by EUMETSAT, including Copernicus satellite systems Maintain operations procedures and system databases for operational mission control chains Conduct operations of mission control chains composed of monitoring and control systems, TTC ground stations and related communication links, including Execution of routine and special operations Mitigation and resolution of contingencies, including provision of oncall support Management of relevant external interfaces Management of contracted industrial support, including Operations Analyst and Controller Service services Evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the operational performance and behaviour of mission control systems and chains Support routine processes for operations coordination and reporting, planning and scheduling of activities, quality assurance and anomaly handling, and configuration management Implement arrangements with the teams of the Technical and Scientific Support Department TSS providing expert engineering support for the maintenance of mission control related systems, based on Service Level Agreements Support the definition of requirements, the design, development and testing of mission control chains for next generation satellite systems, as well as major evolutions of existing mission control systems Participate in systemlevel operations preparation, launch and commissioning activities for next generation satellite systems and recurrent satellites, in support to the EUMETSAT teams of the Programme Preparation and Development Department PRD responsible for the development, launch and inorbit commissioning of these systems Organise and support the training of operations team personnel in the operations of mission control chains Support the Head of the Flight Operations Division, in all management matters involving mission control chains.
