Senior Thermal Engineer

Description In this position you will predict aerothermal environments, in ascent and reentry phase, while providing design solutions for MIURA 1 and MIURA 5 launch vehicles protection materials. The job implies occasional travels to Teruel and Huelva. Responsibilities Design activities for vehicle thermal protections system jointly with other engineering disciplines. Analyse proposed configurations to predict resultant unit temperature predictions and qualification environments. Provide support in the development of manufacturing, integration, and test processes and procedures. Building Computational Fluid Dynamic meshes for aerodynamic force and moment predictions including creating geometries, meshing, running simulations, validating, and post processing output information. Analyse launch vehicles external Aerodynamics and optimize launch vehicle geometries from a Thermal and heat transfer perspective. Contribute performing heat transfer and associated aerothermodynamics analysis on various mission phases, including atmospheric reentry scenarios. Required competences BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of industry experience. Experience building models and performing analysis with FLUENT. Experience in Thermal analysis of composite and metallic structures. Experience with coupled fluidstructurethermal interaction calculations. Proficiency with programming languages such as Matlab. Knowledge of CFD best practices. Clear communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently. Valued competences Familiarity with thermal thermal vacuum testing is a plus. Experience with NX Teamcenter. Experience with spacecraft aerothermodynamic simulations. Experience with reentry aerothermodynamics analysis and simulations. Experience with coupled fluidstructurethermal interaction calculations. Experience 5 years experience with Computer Fluid Dynamics CFD software. 5 years experience with CAD software, preferably with Siemens NX.

Contract Fulltime 3month trial. Position evaluation Objectives and Key Results OKR evaluation, based on individual quarterly, semiannual and annual meetings. Salary To be agreed depending on the professional experience and skills. Responsibilities To Participate in the TEPRELB Liquid Rocket Engine Flight Qualification, including hardware integration, testing and posthot test data processing. To be part of the engineering decision process of MIURA 1 propulsion subsystem final development, testing and integration. To provide inputs for TEPRELB liquid rocket engine upgrades and to improve its performance. To contribute and participate in the engineering decision process of MIURA 1 propellant feed system including piping, valves, sensing, actuators, etc. To contribute in material characterization, material selection and to generate specification for updates and further developments. To develop test plans for liquid propulsion parts and assemblies. To generate manufacturing and assembly specifications. To contribute in the upgrade PLD Space Propulsion Test Bench software and hardware. To operate Companys test bench during hot test campaigns. To provide launch and mission operations support. About TEPRELB Engine TEPRELB engine has been developed internally by PLD Space, being the first liquid propellant rocket engine developed by the company. This engine, fed by Kerosene and LOX in a Pressurefed cycle has been designed to boost MIURA 1 rocket into space. TEPRELB engine has a Thrust SL of 32.3 KN in Sea Level and 39.7 KN in Vacuum conditions. The engine is currently under Flight Qualification Process at PLD Spaces propulsion testing facilities in Teruel Spain. This engine has been developed with Spanish CDTI support in several RD projects as well as internal company investment. Required competences Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering. Relevant experience in liquid propulsion 7 years of liquid propulsion experience, design and testing . 5 years experience in Finite Element Analysis using industry tools such as ANSYS. Excellent use of Siemens NXTeamcenter, EcosimPro, Matlab and Simulink tools. Relevant experience in manufacturing processes metal machining Copper Alloys, Aluminium Alloys and Stainlesssteel Alloys, as well as Electrical Discharge Machining EDM. Other relevant experience in manufacturing processes, such as Aluminium and Stainlesssteel TIG Welding. Good communications skills, including C1 English Level both written and oral. Ability and willingness to thrive in a fastpaced work environment. Highly motivated and committed to improvement. Ability to represent a workgroup. Ability to work as a part of a team. Valued competences Use of Labview is desired. Experience with space launch vehicle design. Spanish both written and oral. Experience working with Spanish Government or National Agencies NASA, CNES or DLR. Experience working with Institutional Contracts with European Space Agency ESA. The Technical Training Manager is responsible for the leadership and organization of training development and delivery to both internal and external customers. The Technical Training Manager will initially develop an mPower focused Jobset specific curriculum designed primarily for internal operations staff, ultimately the role will be centered on SES NextGen operations and other functions serving all MEO and GEO assets. The Technical Training Manager will be encouraged to use a blend of online, partner and internal training assets in order to deliver a bestinclass training program where outcomes in terms of increased operational efficiency and optimal problem solving will be key. This role will be supported by a training administration function albeit this role will drive training program organization and administration activities. Reporting to this role on a virtual basis will be multiple contract training staff, this role will facilitate their predelivery training, monitor quality of delivery and drive corrective actions when required. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Perform periodic Training Needs Analysis exercises in order to develop and maintain a Jobset based training curriculum inclusive of all training requirements of internal, third party and customers Develop and publish clear and concise training objectives for each training module within the curriculum Collaborate closely with both equipment vendors third party training delivery agents in order to support course development and drive content quality Ensure all course modules are beta tested and approved prior to internal or external consumption Ensure courses are periodically updated and reviewed for accuracy Support the development of online training classes by sourcing relevant internal material and securing the attention and consultancy of subject matter experts Perform periodic quality audits on instructorled training modules and ensure training is complete, accurate and professionally delivered Select, test and certify both internal and thirdparty training instructors Design a set of agreed training quality metrics and report progress on a monthly basis, training quality measurement should include the use of student feedback forms.
