ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Gateway Infrastructure Engineer is a key member of the SES Technology Ground Infrastructure team providing expertise in the Ordertofulfilment domain, mainly Service Design and Operations at SES GEOMEO Gateways. The engineers activities will include the active collection as well as definition of technical requirements and processes for implementing Service platforms. This comprises interface management as well as coordination across multiple internal teams and customers. A further part of the role as a part of GW Infrastructure team is to manage, troubleshoot and operate GW Infrastructure together with system vendors and 3rd party contractors. These shall include Site Infrastructure, Antenna RF Subsystems, ModemPlatforms installed worldwide at SES Gateways. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Design, specify and implement services Data Video at SES Gateway and Teleport locations for High Throughput satellites, Wide beam GEO satellites and MEO satellites and other missions. Lead technical coordination for endtoend RF service commissioning at global SES Gateway locations across internal teams and customer representatives Define, specify and report on Key Performance Indicators applicable to Service Fulfilment and Service Assurance for SES Gateways and Teleports Develop, manage and optimize key Business Processes applicable to SES Gateways and Teleports in conjunction with adjacent business functions and customer needs Define and lead implementation of Continuous Service Improvements initiatives and monitor results Design subsystems and implement RF earth station equipment including antennas, HPAs, switch matrix, updown converters, modulators, interfacility connection equipment and Colo space Design, specify and manage the integration of measurement, communications and monitoring and control systems including Service IOT and MC Systems Perform transmission analysis and studies in support of business development and customer services Perform and participate in ground system integration and test and operational validation of the ground segment, including generation of test plans and procedures and participation in system acceptance testing, ground readiness tests and network readiness tests Define and specify building and IP infrastructure as required for such groundbased systems Perform remote configuration, management and troubleshooting of GW Infrastructure Manage and plan GW infrastructure preventive and corrective maintenance and spare parts Support the transition of the new products into operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place Develop procedures and perform periodic calibration of ground systems Drive adherence across all segments of the service delivery process Other adhoc tasks, as assigned by Line Manager COMPETENCIES Must possess strong technical skills across many different areas modems, antennas, RF components, Test and measuring instruments, power etc. Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English Selfmotivated and selfeducating individual with strong personal and professional initiative who is willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow team members Excellent organizational and attention to details skills required Effective verbal and written communication skills that include the ability to describe highly technical concepts in nontechnical terms Ability to multitask and solve complex technical problems Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done Resourcefully working through or around anything blocking things that need to be accomplished Ability to provide accurate information to vendors and other colleagues, in a timely manner Ability to travel, up to 25 of the time, including international travel QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE BS in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or Telecommunications, or similar At least 3 5 years of relevant handson engineering experience in the satellite communications domain as Development, Systems Engineer or Operations Engineer, Test Integration Engineer, andor NOCTeleport Senior Operator Handson experience in RF measurement techniques, test and verification of ground stations and auxiliary systems Proven flexibility and reliability in delivering successfully ground solutions globally without direct supervision Highly experienced in developing and maintaining high availability satellite or telecommunications systems using manned and unmanned facilities Thorough understanding of and ability to use System Engineering processes Experience in the application of VSAT baseband equipment, gateway antenna systems and associated equipment Understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems ExcellentGood command of MS Office package Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, AutoCAD, Excel VBA Understanding of Virtualization platforms including VMware, Cloud Computing, Software Build System, Working knowledge of LinuxUnix operating systems Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English, other languages are considered as valuable assets Ability and wiliness to integrate into an international environment, to travel internationally and to communicate with international peers and customers SES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
