Tasks The holder of the post will support the Galileo Project Office in the activities of Ground Segment AIV Assembly, Integration and Validation, with the following responsibilities AIV Engineering Review AIV documentation AIV Plans, RVMs, Test Cases, Test Procedures Follow up of GMS Segment Tests in AIV Platform Pforzheim and the Galileo Control Centres Review Test Procedures Support TRRs and ensure that planned testing is correct in terms of qualification objectives, configuration, and adequacy of the Test Procedures Witness test execution Review qualification test results and test logs Attend PTRs and Credit Collection meetings to approve Qualification. Prepare inputs for the relevant NRBs. Approve qualification of requirements based on Results. Support to System Verification Activities Support the Ground Segment Integration activity including test execution Review the GS Integration documentation including the RVMs, GS Integration and Verification Plan, Test Cases and Test Procedures. Participate in the test activities write and review Test Procedures, attend TRRs and TRBs, perform or witness test execution, coordinate test team, review qualification test results and test logs Participate in NRBsARBs analyzing noncompliances and RFWs Identify and report on anomalies impacting System activities and provide support for followup and resolution Support other System Integration and Verification activities e.g. SCTCs, IOV Test Campaign, External Interface testing, GMS Commissioning The incumbent will be required to develop pretest documentation and posttest result approval. Including, but not limited to GMS AIV documentation RVM, Test Plans, Test Procedures Reviewed Test Results redlined after witnessing Proposed qualification credits to be approved during formal qualification review meetings Results of System Test Campaigns and in particular Ground Segment Integration tests Essential requirements For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge of the following is mandatory University degree in Space Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent Experience working in integrationverification environment for more than 5 year, preferably in large, distributed space, aircraft, or military projects Good IT knowledge of modern clientserver system, network security functions Endtoend knowledge of complex data processing real time UDP data multiplexing Proven experiences with UNIXLINUX, RT OS and IP networks, HTTPS, FTP, UDP and SNMP MS Office Tools Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, VISIO, DOORS requirements management In view of the complex interaction with numerous entities, candidates should have good communication skills and the capability to manage complex and potentially stressful tasks. A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Ground Systems Engineer for a team leading role with Astrium in Portsmouth. This is a central role on a project deploying the ground control segment for a very high profile satellite constellation This role forms part of the Galileo Ground Control Segment AIV Assembly, Integration and Verification team. The team is currently deployed across two sites one in Germany and one in Italy and is undertaking the ground segment integration and verification in preparation for live satellite operations. The role is based out of the Portsmouth office but will require the successful candidate to be seconded abroad to Germany for at least the first two years. Tasks The post holder will perform the following general tasks Modelling of systems including spacecraft, ground segment and other required auxiliary systems in support of system design and verification. Modelling of system of systems in support of system and enterprise architecting. Definition and validation of metamodels methodologies in support of system modelling activities. Integration and verification of industrial elements in the end to end performance scenario. Provide technical support to projects and end users in the domain of AIT and AIV. Isolate software problems, report and develop patches for section supported methods and tools. Evaluate needs and generate requirements for enhancements. Evaluate relevant new methods, tools and standards for the domains covered. Provide technical support for detailed definition of flight operations authoring and viewer tools and products for crewed missions. Maintain the corresponding tools and infrastructure. The postholder will be assigned to the System Modelling and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division. The specific tasks include Definition and updating of the requirements related to the Satellite AITAIV e.g. plans, test specifications, test procedures. Ensuring the definition and implementation of a satellite andor payload AIV programme which meets the technical and programmatic requirements. Monitoring and control of subsystem and system level integration and test activities e.g. participation to test reviews, test readiness, test boards, attendance to test execution. Ensuring ESA and Hispasat requirements are met. Monitoring the AIT planning, preparation, execution and test analysis activities of OHB, including the representation of ESA at daily, weekly and monthly meetings and providing weekly briefing reports Represent ESA at TRR, PTR, NRB meetings in coordination with the project PA and Engineering Ensuring timely preparation of integration and test procedures and reviewing these procedures supported by relevant discipline engineers. Monitor the readiness and validation of GSE, scripts and software needed for the platform and spacecraft verification. Setup and follow the verification control process ensuring adequate verification traceability. Interface with the ESA project team to ensure adequate support for AIT activities and reviews. Maintain the AIT documentation distribution and storage with support of the project administrator Support project reviews in hisher area of expertise. Support as required other subsystems AIV activities at other subcontractors locations. The holder of the post will take hisher responsibilities as AIV engineer at OHB, Bremen, Germany following the core platform integration and verification activities followed by the Spacecraft integration and verification, which will also include the environment test activities at IABG, Munich, Germany, through to the launch campaign in CSG late 2014 TBC. Extended periods at the integrator site as well as support during the launch campaign are expected. Essential requirements The required expertise for all of these activities includes A relevant engineering degree electrical engineering, space system engineering, computer science or related discipline. Experience in Electrical and or functional verification of spacecraft system and subsystems. Familiarity with the ECSS standards in verification and system engineering. Familiarity with system modelling methods and tools. Experience in requirements engineering and verification engineering. Good experience in system testing and payloads functional tests. The ability to work in a project team with a sense of cooperation and negotiation with colleagues at ESA or within Industry is required.
