Telenor unites Asian ops at hub in Singapore led by Rostrup as markets mature

(Telecompaper) Telenor said it has appointed Jorgen C Arentz Rostrup to lead a unified Asian business from 01 May and named Tone H Bachke to succeed him as group CFO from the same date. Uniting the markets in Asia as a single unit will strengthen Telenor's focus on growth and modernisation and position it to capture opportunities in the region, it said. Bache moves to her role as CFO from her current position as head of group treasury.

Telenor opens commercial 5G network in Norway

(Telecompaper) Telenor Norway announced the commercial launch of a 5G network in nine towns and cities on 13 March, following a pilot scheme that began in Kongsberg in November 2018. There are 38 5G base stations in Trondheim, built in collaboration with Ericsson.

Telenor Norway plans 170 redundancies in reorganisation

(Telecompaper) Telenor Norway said it will be making approximately 170 workers redundant, mostly at its headquarters in Fornebu. This is in the course of a reorganisation of its Norwegian operations, aimed at efficiency and modernisation. Petter-Borre Furberg, CEO of Telenor Norway, said it is migrating customers to new equipment in a major technology shift and that by 2023, its copper network will have been replaced by fibre and mobile connectivity.
