This is a regular opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work in the domain of satellite operations operations preparations in Darmstadt ESAEsoc. Its covering a Spacecraft Operations Engineering service primarily assigned to Sentinel1 mission, but with the possibility of supporting other missions within the Earth Observation Missions Division. The primary areas of responsibility for this position are the CBand SAR instrument and the Optical Communications Payload OCP but the candidate may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services. Description The Consultant shall perform tasks related to all aspects of managing the Satellite Mission Planning Facility MPS during routine operations. This involves deleting old database structures and files when necessary, and on a daily basis running MPS system checks to spot any system anomalies or errors Raising anomaly reports when necessary and monitoring their resolution through attendance at appropriate review boards. Supplying context and initial analyses that may aid the investigation of anomalies Maintaining a thorough knowledge of the Satellite space and ground segment operational needs that are met using the MPS. Keeping up to date with any changes to these needs, and with the Satellite space and ground segments as a whole. Organising meetings with relevant space and ground segment experts to discuss how best to implement new operational needs in MPS Maintenance, update and documentation of the MPS operational implementation. This consists of database structures such as resource, master schedule, operation, template, activity, procedure and event definitions, and associated rules that are used to implement operational needs. Performing judicious updates and associated testing as and when changes to the operational implementation are identified, or when bugsinconsistencies are found Rolling out of new versions of the MPS operational implementation onto operational ground segments when required, following approved configuration management procedures Maintenance and development of MPS documentation such as the User Guide and the Database Operations Handbook. The latter documents the operational implementation i.e. all database structures and rules Liaising with external entities e.g. NOAA in order to fulfil joint operations requirements. Maintaining documentation concerning this Participating in the definition of any changes to the supplied MPS application software or to our inhouse supporting software that could lead to an improvement in the performance andor ergonomics of the MPS. Contributing to the process of implementing such changes, and liaising with any external contractors that may be performing the changes Contributing to the definition and raising of Engineering Change Proposals, Small Change Requests and Change Requests concerning the Satellite MPS, and attending ECP Review Board meetings if necessary Contributing to the operational validation of new versions of the Satellite MPS application software, including testing of ARNCR correction and new functionality.
