Main responsibilities The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following tasks and activities Maintaining, supporting and evolving where required the assigned applications and databases. Definition design, implementation, testing, deployment and operations of new applications mainly web and databases mainly administrative oriented to support all directorate requirements. Identification of requirement for interfacing with ESA Corporate applications and design and implementation of related interfaces with directoratespecific local applications, in coordination with related design authorities in ESA. Support to user community in their daytoday usage of the applicationsdatabases, in particular regarding data collection, productions of adhoc reports, etc. Perform business process analysis for potential local applications and systems. Produce requirements and project documentation in close liaison with the customers and in line with the project management procedures. Provision of consultancy in information systems related aspects such as applications, technology, development methodologies, etc. The successful candidate shall provide support to the user community to Provide assistance in the technical and functional use of the applications under the Contractors responsibility Address requests related to applications and products out of his scope to the relevant support groups keeping the user informed The ideal candidate shall provide expert advice regarding current system functionality and respond to Requests for manipulation of the database e.g. generation of specific script for data upload, application configuration, etc. Requests for data extraction, adhoc reports, etc. Troubleshooting applications errors not requiring intervention of the development team. Ideal candidate The successful candidate will bring a PhD or MSc Engineering from a recognised Institute of secondary studies or equivalent and minimum 4 years of experience in the tasks similar to the ones described above. Additionally, the person requires Technical Skills Strong skills on Oracle databases SQL, PLSQL, etc. and related database applications design and development are essential. Experience in Oracle Application Express APEX is preferred. A good experience in developing Web applications using standard application frameworks and related Web technologies. Capable of Java web development. Capable in Software development Pascal, C, C, Java, Spring, Hibernate, PLSQL, Perl, PHP, VB. Proficient in Software Debugging. NonTechnical Skills A very good working knowledge of spoken and written English language is essential. Excellent communication skills written, interpersonal, negotiation, etc. are crucial. Must be able to train and explain issues to users over the telephone and email, and to maintain clear communication with the ESAs technical responsible on all tasks and projects. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. High sense of rigour, proactive attitude to solve problems. Service orientation. Organisation and maintenance of laboratory library, which includes documentation operating manuals, test reports and general documentation.
