Satellite Platform Operations Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Meteosat Second Generation Spacecraft Operations Team your tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews e.g. eclipses, reconditioning, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations Participation to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer Support the Meteosat Third Generation operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in a relevant discipline Several years of professional experience of spacecraft operations Routine spacecraft operations in general Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of Thermal Control Subsystem Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Satellite Payload Operations Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. You will have the following responsibilities Support the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit Meteosat Second Generation MSG spacecraft and commissioning of MSG4 Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft payload, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews for payloads and platform e.g. eclipses, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc. Contribute to the maintenance of o Automated and Manual procedures, o Operations database, o Special operation instructions, o Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Ops Guide, etc. for the preparation and execution of System Validation Tests, commissioning and onorbit satellite operations Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participate to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer particularly in the technical area of the SEVIRI Instrument Contribution to the Meteosat Third Generation MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant discipline Several years of professional experience in spacecraft operations Familiarity with routine spacecraft operations in general would be an advantage Experience with operations preparation of a satellite project Experience in operations andor design of the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infra Red Imager SEVIRI Instrument Payload and also some familiarity with the Mission Communications Payload MCP Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of French or another European language is an advantage. HE Space is seeking a team of 8 telecomms specialists to support the ESA Atlas programme which provides opportunities for industrial partners to gain flight testing of innovative product and service ideas. As part of this team you will be given the opportunity to work across the project lifecycle from prephase A studies through to design and development of both satellite and ground segment technologies, giving you a unique opportunity to build your experience and develop your interest in satellite telecommunications. Preparation of Market Analysis and studies identifying end user needs in future satcoms systems Project Management of Atlas funded projects in collaboration with the industrial partners Preparation of technical proposals in support of new satcom systems Design Authority and technical lead in the architectural definition of the end of end satcoms system including both space and ground segment. Lead system tradeoffs and studies to evaluate new concepts and technologies across satcoms systems. TASKS EUMETSAT will specify in advance, on a work package basis, the required support. The work packages will typically cover a period of three months and will be mutually agreed before the start of the period. The Key persons will be integrated in the MSG Spacecraft Operations Team. Hisher tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and operations procedures as necessary Support to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecrafts and to the commissioning of MSG4. Support to the LEOP preparation and execution of the next GEO satellites. Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects. Support, as requested, the satellite simulator development procurement followup and maintenance and provide the necessary input to the simulator team. Review technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities. The specific tasks will be specified in the applicable work package and mutually agreed in advance. PROFILE Technical skills In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key persons shall have experience of spacecraft operations. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key persons to have experience with some of the following Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design ofThermal Control Subsystem Routine spacecraft operations in general The Key persons shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key persons must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
