TASKS EUMETSAT will specify in advance, on a work package basis, the required support. The work packages will typically cover a period of three months and will be mutually agreed before the start of the period. The key persons will be integrated in the MSG Spacecraft Operations Team. Hisher tasks in the area of the spacecraft payload subsystem and also some platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and existing operations procedures as necessary Support the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecraft and commissioning of MSG4. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer SOE oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft payload, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews for payloads and platform e.g. eclipses, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute to the maintenance of Automated and Manual procedures, Operations database, Special operation instructions, Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Ops Guide, etc for the preparation and execution of System Validation Tests, commissioning and onorbit satellite operations Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Satellite simulator maintenance support and provision of the necessary input to the simulator maintenance team Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participate to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer particularly in the technical area of the SEVIRI Instrument Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft platform and payload and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects Support, as requested, the satellite simulator development procurement followup and maintenance and provide the necessary input to the simulator team. Review technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities. The specific tasks will be specified in the applicable work packages and mutually agreed in advance. PROFILE Technical skills In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key persons shall have experience of spacecraft operations. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key persons to have experience with some of the following Routine spacecraft operations in general Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infra Red Imager SEVIRI Instrument Payload and also some familiarity with the Mission Communications Payload MCP. The Key persons shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key persons must be able to work effectively in this language and have a knowledge of the other. The company is currently working on major European satellite development and manufacturing programs and is looking for support within the Electrical Systems department. Tasks and Responsibilities Architect for the concept, detailed design, trades, analyses, and final definition of the electrical power system EPS and its units for project specific satellite applications consisting of solar arrays, batteries, PCDU, and SADMSADE Consultancy, support, and review of predevelopment proposals phase AB Specification of the system and units all phases Management and supervision of the EPS subcontractors for all project phases from RFIproposal stage up to final deliverylaunch Definition of the project specific SOW for EPS subcontractors Technical responsible for the subcontractor selection process Management of the project EPS team activities and resources Leading EPS level and unit level reviews Creation of system level justification documentation analyses, reports and design descriptions Management and control the interfaces with other satellite subsystems e.g. pin2pin, eICD, SRDB Point of contact for the customer and subcontractor EPS counterparts including negotiations, reviews Support, management and control of the EPS VV activities Definition and documentation of unit, system and satellitelevel tests Support to satellite projects from start to customer acceptance. Required Skills and Education A degree in engineering with a major in electrical, or space engineering, or comparable qualifications Minimum of 8 years of working experience, preferably with electrical systems or components Working, uptodate knowledge of electrical power system design for satellites Understanding of the interdependencies within the system and with the other satellite subsystems Capable of taking on the responsibility for multimillion euro contracts Excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work and take decisions independently Excellent presentation and negotiation skills Authority figure, capable of leading a small engineering team and represent the teams work to the customer Fluency in spoken and written English, German is considered a plus.
