For our activities in Germany, we are looking for a person to provide LTA SW Engineering Consultancy Service. TASKS Requirements elicitation, design, implementation, testing, software configuration, and maintenance of documentation for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive inhouse bespoke software systems and related commercial off the shelf software COTS Contribution to the entire software life cycle with a strong focus on testing, validation and verification Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and the delivery of SW correction and accompanying documentation, including updates to automated tests and the execution of relevant regression testing Engineering level service for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive, communicating and interacting with other teams at EUMETSAT Identification of gaps and areas of improvement in the EUMETSAT Long Term archive, leading to evolutions including identification of new technologies and concepts in support to these evolutions. Requirement University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline A minimum of 5 year experience in the following mandatory areas Provision of 2nd line maintenance support for operational systems Software Engineering with extensive experience in developing, maintaining and testing software components and applications in the Java and CC programming languages under UnixLinux using the Object Oriented 00 approach Software verification, validation and maintenance, following a formal approach Relation Database schema design and optimisation experience XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies. TASKS Participation to Metop satellite AIV, Launch and Commissioning activities relevant to the MHS and NOAA instruments, including operation of the MHS EGSE, data analysis, preparation of procedures and test reports instrument ground testing at sc level, endtoend testing at system level, satellite inorbit verification. Maintenance of an uptodate plan of Metop satellite AIV, Launch and Commissioning activities requiring support for the MHS and the NOAA instruments. Follow up all activities related to MHS carried out by the Airbus DSUK and maintain a list of PDS activities and their status and expenditures. Follow up of all activities related to the NOAA instruments including AVHRR and SEM instruments onground calibration. Support inorbit checkout verification tests during MetopC In Orbit Verification IOV. Investigation of onground and inorbit instrument anomalies and support operations to the relevant recovery actions. Provide general support to the Metop Operations Team for MHS and NOAA instruments matters. Analyse and assess both onground and inorbit performances of MHS and NOAA instruments. Participation to instrument reviews and other meetings with industry and other partners such as ESA, NOAANASA. Maintenance of regular contacts with the above mentioned EUMETSAT partners and industry in relation to MHS and NOAA instruments. Maintenance of a status list of MHS action items, nonconformancesanomalies, requests for waivers and deviations. Preparation and maintenance of instrument related documents, as well as presentation material e.g. Instrument Operational Manuals SKILLS The experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with the minimum of supervision and minimum training. A university degree in engineering or physics. A background of at least 5 years in space hardware projects possibly with Earth observation instruments. Experience in project management positions or some exposure to it. The ability to follow satellite level Payload AIV activities. Some knowledge of PAQA processes and procedures Good general computing skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office software Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.. The Key Person will support the Ground Stations and External Interfaces GSEI team within the RSO division and shall support the daily operations of the Ground Stations and their interfaces to the other components of the ground segments to ensure their maximum availability and reliability. This role will focus on the ground stations supporting EUMETSATs low Earth orbiting LEO satellites EPS, EPSSG and JCS but the engineer will also be expected to support the geostationary orbit GEO stations when required. This will include ground station changes required to support major space segment evolutions Interfacing with the ground stations maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance by the ground stations, including participating in the definition, specification and implementation of any changes Planning and coordination of upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the engineering teams and FLO division Organising the validation of these upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the Controller Teams Definition and maintenance of ground station operations procedures and operations guides Maintaining operational ground stations databases Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and correctionmitigation, participation in associated Anomaly Review Boards Provision of training, through production and presentation of written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Department PROFILE In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent ground stations experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least five years experience in ground stations TTC operations in support of multiple Low Earth Orbit LEO andor Geostationary GEO spacecraft at least five years experience in a realtime 247 spacecraft operations environment, ideally in an earth observation environment excellent interpersonal and coordination skills Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage major upgrades or evolutions of operational ground stations defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground stations interfaces between ground stations and ground segments firstline hardware and software failure diagnosis and correction baseband operation and configuration The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The Key Person will support the RSO division but shall initially provide support to the PRD department for the development and operations preparation of the MTG Programme focussing on system and ground station aspects, ensuring they are brought to a suitable level for the transition of the programme into routine operations. The role comprises a range of tasks across a number of different departments within our customer so the Key Person will need a broad knowledge of operational ground segments and how the ground stations fit into the general scheme. The Key Person shall also support the routine operations of the existing MTP, MSG and EPS ground stations, as well as their future evolutions. PROFILE In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent work experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least three years experience in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least three years experience in the routine operations of satellites preferably in an earth observation environment experience of the preparation and use of operational procedures, databases, displays and documentation Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience in the procurement phase of ground segments for satellite monitoring and control and mission data reception, ideally in the Earth Observation domain experience of document management and configuration control processes experience of development and upgrades within a 247 operations environment experience in defining user interfaces for operations HMI, reports etc. The official languages of our customer are English and French.
