Client and Location For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for an Instrument Performance L1B Processing Engineer who will give support to the Earth Observation Payload Section onsite at ESTEC. Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate shall perform the following tasks Technical support to the assessment and verification of the instruments endtoend performances Analysis of the Ground Processor Prototype, GPP, and Instrument Data Simulator, IDS, requirements Monitoring of the development of GPP and IDS of the related instruments, including payload common parts Review of the GPP and IDS Input Output Design Specifications Support to EUMETSAT documentation review L1b products specifications, L1b Algorithms Theoretical Baseline Documentation, ATBD Review of Characterisation, Calibration and InOrbit Verification Plans Review of instrument performance models, instrument radiometricgeometric models Improvement and maintenance of performance and data processing tools models, performances, budgets Participation to Project reviews Assessment of noncompliances and RFDsRFWs related to instrument performances In the execution of his tasks, the Performance Engineer will work closely with each of the Principal Instrument Engineers responsible for the relevant instruments. Experience and education The candidate shall comply with the following requirements The Candidate shall have a university degree masters or equivalent qualification in instruments performance and data processing with a background in microwave radiometer instruments for remote sensing The candidate shall have at least 4 years of relevant work experience within the space industry performing similar activities as outlined in the tasks and responsibilities section The candidate shall have a good understanding of the overall instruments, including background in modelling of the observation techniques, endtoend performance estimation, L1B processing and instrument characterisation Experience with Microwave Radiometers data processing, instrument modelling and experience in instrument development is an asset Candidates shall demonstrate good familiarity with computer programs such as Excel, Matlab, etc. About ATG Europe Today, ATG is recognized as a leading provider of specialized engineering, scientific and technical services to the European Aerospace, High Tech and Offshore industry. RHEA is currently recruiting a Data Processing Engineer to support the EU FP7 Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables QA4ECV project at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. The QA4ECV Quality Assurance for Essential Climate Variables project is an international effort, which will develop a Quality Assurance QA system for observational data products. Several scientific communities distributed among 16 institutes work together including the metrology, the nonsatellite reference measurement, the terrestrial and atmospheric remote sensing, the climate modelling, and computer science communities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Production of the multidecadal climate data record Analysis of the data record quality employing quality monitoring procedures and other validation techniques and data as appropriate Acquisition of relevant data from internal and external sources to support product quality monitoring Support implementation, processing and validation of the product with other international partners e.g. JMA, NOAANCDC Preparation of QA4ECV data for ingestion into the Data Centre Compilation of relevant data set documentation including validation reports, user guides and format descriptions Compilation of project result presentations and participation in project progress meetings. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Strong technical skills with a minimum of 1 year experience in the implementation of software for delayed mode processing of satellite data Strong experience in Programming languages CC andor FORTRAN Working in unixlinux environment Scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, shell Analysis and graphic software such as IDL Data formats such as NetCDF4, GRIB, HDF5, and BUFR Knowledge in processing and monitoring of large volume of remote sensing data Knowledge in validation of satellite products The following skills would be highly desirable Operational product processing environments Data bases such as MySQL and Oracle Meteosat missions and instruments Retrieval of parameters using visible wave lengths Calibration of satellite observations in the visible spectral range How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
