Galileo Operations Engineer AOCS, Electrical and TTC Subsystems Ref.Nr. 158684 The Mission Galileo is Europes global navigation satellite system, which will provide a highly accurate global positioning service under civilian control. The Challenge We seek a qualified engineer to be part of the flight control team providing spacecraft operations engineering services for the Galileo constellation of navigation spacecraft. This is a fulltime position collocated at or near the premises of our customer in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich. The work starts as soon as possible. The tasks to be performed are those typical for a spacecraft operations engineer, but with a focus on data handling operations. Typical spacecraft operations engineering tasks include requirement definition, preparing and validating flight control procedures, validating ground systems used for operations, participating in spacecraft interface tests, and spacecraft performance analysis. Specific areas of responsibility and support related to this position are Generationconfiguration of flight operation procedures Definition of validation scenarios Flight operation procedure test and validation Preparations for participation in system validation tests and simulation campaigns Test and validation of operational items, e.g. the Galileo constellation simulator, airborne software, satellite constellation control facility, operational databases and the manufacturing and operations Information System MOIS Participation and provision of training in spacecraft subsystems, operational tools and operational concepts management of operational anomaly reports support for routine, special and contingency operations during PF commissioning, in orbit test and routine operations provision of oncall and shift operational services offline analysis of subsystem performance tuning of the operational databases, e.g. define, configure and adjust telemetry parameter operational limits participatelead implementation of special operations, with focus on the attitude and orbit control Your Qualifications This position requires a person with University degree or similar in engineering, physics or related subject. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position PDHT and TTC satellite operations service provision mf COSSOE201503 Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE is responsible for the support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCT during all the operational phases, including special operations, as well as participating to testing campaigns of the above mentioned missions. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Validation, test and operation of the Simulator and of the Mission Control System MCS. Generation, validation and maintenance of the Flight Operations Plan FOP of the Payload Data Handling and Transmission PDHT Prime satellite subsystem. Generation, validation and maintenance of the FOP of the Data Handling and SBand Telemetry Tracking and Command TTC Backup satellite subsystems. Support to test and operation of the Network Data Interface Units, Portable Satellite Stimulator and other operational support tools. Support for Flight Operations System FOS procurement, integration, user acceptance testing and system testing. Review of satellite documents. Maintenance of the FOP spacecraft document library. Support for the generation of FOS documentation. Support to FCT training activities including generation of training material. Support to spacecraft and ground segment Acceptance Review resolution. Support to the preparation and execution of the Satellite Validation Test SVT campaign. Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP support responsible for the Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS satellite subsystem. Commissioning support for the AOCS satellite subsystem. Routine Phase operational support including Responsible for the PDHT Prime satellite subsystems Responsible for the Data Handling and SBand TTC Backup satellite subsystems The performance of Mission Planning operations. The preparation and execution of orbit control manoeuvres and any other daily and weekly operations activities. Support to the oncall SOE rota, maintaining the mission history log and the generation of regular operations reports. Support to Secure commanding operations. In addition, the SOE will be responsible for The FOS Unavailability Tool development and maintenance Providing backup support for all OnBoard Software Maintenance OBSM related activities. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 7 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel. The ability to work independently with little supervision. Capable of coordinate and Interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Fluent in English. Spacecraft Flight Operations knowledge, including Failure Detection Isolation and Recovery FDIR, in particular for relevant satellite subsystems andor payloads. Experience with Packet Utilisation Standard. Experience in working in an operational environment. Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. Experience with anomaly investigations. Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase, special Operations LEOP, deorbiting campaign and operational phase routine. Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat. Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000. Familiarity with Earth Observations missions, in particular with Copernicus Sentinels. Familiarity with TeleMetry TeleCommand TMTC databases, preferably SCOS2000 compatible. Familiarity with multisatellite missions. Experience in ground tests preparation and execution, e.g. SVTs. Experience in cooperation with Flight Dynamics teams. Experience in preparing and execution OBSM operations. Experience in mission planning operations.
