Job Description Flight Software Development Validation Software Validation OnBoard Ground Engineer Specific Tasks Within the Flight Software Systems Section, support is provided to the Earth Observation projects EOP of the current and future ESA earth observation missions, e.g Sentinel1, Sentinel2, Sentinel3, EarthCare, MTG. Support is also provided to Science missions such as BepiColombo, Solar Orbiter, and JUICE. This support includes monitoring and supporting the implementation, verification and validation of Flight Software. The candidate will be assigned to the Flight Software Systems Section of the Software Systems Division and shall function as an integrated team member of the development team, in charge of the following initial tasks General Support to Software Validation Facilities and Avionics Test Bench infrastructure activities. Emulators characterisation. Interface adaptations between SVF and Test Bench models. Adaptation and upgrade ATB EagleEye mission to Time and Space Partitions TSP and multicore configurations. Integration of TSP based system execution environment. Supporting integration of Multicore based system execution environment. Support dedicated projects SVF infrastructure development including processor simulator. Requirements A university degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline. In particular experience with Software engineering and objectoriented programming. Programming languages CC andor others. Embedded Real Time Systems and Real Time Kernels. Unix based systems. Microprocessors such as SPARC LEON, ARM, multicores etc. Communication protocols Mil1553, SpaceWire, CAN. Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSSEST40C. Knowledge of Space Systems and Space System Engineering will be an asset. The candidate shall be able to function as part of a team. Because of the operational nature of the support, a proactive and flexible attitude will be required. Experience with operational software development will be an advantage. TASKS Heshe is responsible for the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of operational simulators. The following main tasks are involved specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems. PROFILE Knowledge required includes knowledge and experience in the ESOC software engineering methodology and standards competence in modern computer languages such as C, C, Java, UML, XML, SQL familiarity with the ESOC software development environments and systems, including DOORS familiarity with relevant operating systems, including LINUX . The working language for the position is English and therefore the keyperson must be able to work effectively in this language. MCS Development, Test and Validation Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities The European Space Operations Centre ESOC is the main mission control centre for the European Space Agency ESA and provides satellite operations and ground station tracking network services to its users. You will be working in the Data System Infrastructure Division OPSGI and have the following responsibilities Review of technical documentation and verification of compliance to the applicable requirements Production and maintenance of technical documentation, including test plans Collaboration with the Technical Officers for the acceptance tests activities of the main systems deliveries and patches Definition and execution of manual and automated test cases Support to users of infrastructure systems, including troubleshooting of reported problems Measurement of systems performance Production of test reports documenting the outputs of the systems acceptance test activities.
