Description Avionics Engineer in the AOCS and Pointing Systems Section, GNC, AOCS and Pointing Division, Systems Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering Quality DTEC. The AOCS and Pointing Systems Section provides funtional support to ESA projects in the technical field of AOCS and carries out technological research in competitive, innovative and highaccuracy control systems, attitude sensors and magnetic actuators. Assigned as integrated support to ESAIL and TritonX project in the Telecommunication Satellite Programmes Department, Directorate of Telecommunications Integrated Applications DTIA, the postholder is responsible for coordinating and steering all avionicsrelated tasks under that project. Liaising closely with the projects internal engineering resources, especially the platform engineer and the quality engineer, DTEC engineering support services within ESA, and the ESAILTritonX prime and its subcontractors. Training and familiarisation with the parent Departments mandate, processes and procedures will be provided at the start of this assignment. The avionic system encompasses Attitude and orbit control subsystem AOCS Data handling subsystem DHS for the platform and for the payload command and control Onboard softWare OBSW Electrical ground support equipments EGSE, special checkout equipment SCOE and overall checkout equipment OCOE System reference database SRDB Verification activities, verification control documentation VCD, functional chain verification software and avionics test benches, flat sat. The Avionics Engineer will have in addition an active role in supporting the Flight dynamics FDS and mission analysis tasks in particular in the case of interface physical and functional with the space segment avionics subsystem Platform engineer for the platform and spacecraft MAIT. Duties Reporting hierarchically to the TritonX and functionally to the ESAIL Project Managers, the postholder will carry out main tasks and responsibilities which include Ensuring the spacecrafts electrical compatibility with the selected launchers Consolidating the platform avionics requirements derived from market product line requirements Coordinating the platform avionics level engineering activities, performing in conjunction with the project internal engineering team and the industrial prime and its partners Direct supervising the design, development, manufacturing and testing of the AOCS subsystem and its sensorsactuators, performed in conjunction with the industrial prime, Ensuring compliance and verification of the platform avionics with platformlevel technical and performance requirements Ensuring coherence of the platforms overall avionics design, development, procurement, and avionics AIVAIT activities Monitoring the design, development, procurement in these fields, including related scheduling and cost aspects Maintaining the relevant technical budgets at project level Monitoring the schedule and risks of the relevant procurements, providing early warning of potential problem areas, ensuring appropriate mitigation actions are identified and implemented Supporting definition and implementation of the overall operational concept at mission level operations constraints and procedures, and preparation and implementation of the launchcommissioning phase Supporting preparation and implementation of all major reviews at systemspace segmentpayload levels Internally coordinating at project level all avionics activities related to spacecraftlevel reviews Actively supporting the prime for all reviews according to the postholders assigned duties Coordinating the specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technical, Engineering Quality as required Ensuring the liaison between the ESA and industry project teams Participating in periodic meetings with the parent section, contributing to the transfer of technical knowledge and lessons learned across the Agency. In performing these tasks, the postholder will liaise closely and proactively with the rest of the project team and with colleagues within the Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department. The postholderr will regularly liaise with the parent section AOCS and Pointing Systems Section for general technical knowledge, sharing and lessonslearned matters of significance to DTEC. With a view to future assignments in the parent section, strong expertise in two or more of the following related areas will be a distinct advantage Understanding of related AOCS technologies, RD trends and the industrial landscape Experience in preparing procurement activities for technology development and innovation statements of work, proposal evaluation, etc. AOCS hardware technology development, starting from low TRL, up to hardware qualification Incremental verification of avionics systems on a variety of test benches up to satellite level. A vacancy for an Avionics Functional Validation Technician mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will join the FV Infrastructure Execution department. The Central Engineering technical unit for Functional and Electrical CheckOut comprises departments in the UK, France and Germany. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that meets the evolving needs of the business, working on satellite platforms, payloads and equipment. The department is responsible for the resourcing and technical management of the Functional Validation FV aspects of Telecommunication and Earth Observation, Navigation and Science ENS satellite projects. It relates to all activities that have been set up to verify and validate a system from a functional point of view. More specifically, this means integrating avionics equipment, test engineering, writingchecking procedures, producing test procedures, investigating anomalies, analysing test results and delivering test reports. The candidate needs to understand and handle the avionics tests set up with real hardware equipment andor simulators. The FV activity is based on a consistent use of simulation models and facilities, databases and procedures throughout all project phases, so as to achieve a consistent process for harmonised development and validation of satellite hardware and software, checkout software and checkout equipment. Process improvement initiatives are being constantly performed to make the FV more efficient and consistent across the various projects. As the successful candidate, you will initially join one of the projects as part of the Functional Verification team and, after an initial period of training, will be participating in the preparation, implementation and execution of functional tests on simulated and realtime test benches. Tests will cover the following subsystems Attitude and Orbit Control AOCS, Data Handling System DHS, Power, Payload, Failure Detection and Incident Recovery FDIR and System Control. The role will also involve working on support activities, for instance anomaly resolution and management, configuration control, and process improvement. Within this context and under the responsibility of the Avionics Functional Validation Engineer, your main tasks and responsibilities will include Establishing the necessary and sufficient configuration to perform the functional validation task. Validating the functional chains through endtoend openloop tests AOCS, DHS, etc. Validating the nominal and reconfiguration functions of the subassembly through closedloop tests Developing and debugging Automated Test Procedures ATP and scripts, in the dedicated language, working within a specified process and using templates and FV tools against a test specification. This will include liaising with the various project architects and domain specialists. Executing the ATPs on the various test benches together with test data analysis and test report compilation. This will include liaising with specialist areas for result data analyses, technical management and Product Assurance PA. Investigating anomalies and producing diagnoses determining root causes equipment, environment model, software flight, test bed, data bases, procedures, and test specifications. Producing test reports.
