DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Eleven was located near latitude 12.5 North, longitude 47.1 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 15 mph (24 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast later tonight and this motion is forecast to continue during the next few days followed by a turn toward the northwest early next week. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm on Thursday. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Elida was located near latitude 24.4 North, longitude 120.2 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A northwestward or north-northwestward motion at a slower forward speed is expected through Thursday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected during the next day or so, and the remnant low is forecast to dissipate early Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Elida that are affecting portions of the west coast of the Baja California peninsula will subside tonight and Thursday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
