A Southwest Airlines jet tilts on a New York LaGuardia runway after a landing went badly in July 2013. The captain of a Southwest Airlines flight that landed hard and badly at New York LaGuardia Airport two years ago should have aborted the landing and made another attempt, the National Transportation Board said Thursday.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairman Christopher A. Hart, Member Earl F. Weener, and NTSB aviation safety investigators will participate in EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015. This annual fly-in convention by Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will take place July 20–26 in Oshkosh, WI. In addition to specific topics tackled by Hart and Weener, NTSB investigators will make 15 presentations on various safety issues throughout week and meet participants at NTSB exhibit.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Vice Chairman Bella Dinh-Zarr will speak at Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Leadership Conference on July 8. Held July 5–9, conference will bring 5,000+ student leaders, members, and advisers to Washington, D.C. This year's conference has "Together We Are Healthy" theme, and Dinh-Zarr will address teen leaders from across U.S. about how transportation safety is a public health issue.

On July 11, 2015, NTSB will present seminar highlighting lessons learned from investigations involving instructional accidents. NTSB has developed an understanding of when and how pilot training accidents are likely to occur, through its own investigations and through industry and government research identifying risks involved in solo and dual instructional flights. Seminar will explore causes of accidents, current efforts to prevent them, and resources available to pilots/flight instructors.
