A vacancy has arisen for a Propulsion Test Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful applicants will provide Testing and Launch support of Propulsion Systems and components from preparation of equipment and documentation, testing and recording of data to reporting. This will involve working on multiple projects and often offsite. The key tasks of the role are Preparation of test and launch documentation within the requirements of the Satellite Propulsion system including technical and safety Working as part of a small, specialist team within a multiidisciplined project team Manufacture, maintain and operate equipment specific to the requirements of the propulsion system Perform test and launch services activities to strict quality and technical requirements Frequent and occasionally extended periods of offsite work abroad is required This role comes with a highly attractive package including Basic Salary, Overtime, Shift allowance and Test Campaign Overseas Allowance. Due to current workloads, successful applicants have the potential to increase their income and could earn up to 40 of their basic salary from the various uplifts, allowances and overtime. A Propulsion Design Engineer Vacancy has arisen with Astrium in Stevenage. The propulsion department is responsible for the RD, conception, design, analysis, test planning, launch and inorbit support of spacecraft propulsion systems. Typically components such as engines, valves and tanks are procured from external suppliers they are assembled into the systems at Stevenage and then system tested at various sites across Europe. This is all prior to the support provided for the launch campaign at launch sites across the globe and then the subsequence onstation or inflight operations. The Principle Propulsion Design Engineer will be required to Perform the role of Propulsion Architect in the generation of system concepts. Tasks include component selection, system analyses and the generation of the associated documents for proposals, and design reviews. Perform analyses and build theoretical models relating to gaseous and liquid pressure drop theory for pipes, components and orifices, as well as thermodynamic behaviour of fluids. It will be necessary to utilise existing EADS Astrium code or to create purpose built models and analyses using commercial software. Work with 3D CATIA engineers in order to generate mechanical layouts, as well as detail design and manufacturing data. Present the propulsion system design to customers with the use of presentations and formal design review packs and meetings. Similarly the engineer has to assist in the review of test results from the various phases of build subsystemspacecraft. Support testing, spacecraft launch and operation. With component suppliers, testing facilities and launch sites spread throughout the world it will be necessary for the propulsion engineer to travel. Equipment Product User to perform the role of technical expert for one or more key propulsion components tanks, valves, thrusters etc to liaise with suppliers design team and to master the design and test aspects of the particular equipment. Be available for secondments within Europe as a resident representative on major internationally collaborative programmes Actively seek and develop new propulsion systems business with both ESA and government agencies, as well as the Private Sector in the UK. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Practical experience with mechanicalelectrical systems fluid systems, pressure valves, pressure regulators, isolation valves, SEAL materials, aggressive fluids Pneumaticshydraulics Have a general awareness of thermal control hardware and product assurance concepts as well as understanding the rudiments of statistics.
