LSE Space is looking for a MCS Mission Control System Subsystem Engineer mf in order to support the Columbus mission at DLR in OberpfaffenhofenGermany. The main tasks of the position will be MCS Mission Control System is one of the core subsystems in the Columbus project as this is the interface of the ground control team for TMTC to the Columbus module attached to ISS International Space Station. The MCS Subsystem Engineer is in charge with all activities related to the good functioning of MCS. This includes installing and configuring the software environment, maintaining the system up to date, supporting different activities on ground simulations, testing, etc. and troubleshooting possible problems within MCS or interfaced subsystems. The MCS Subsystem Engineer is also the direct interface with Airbus, the manufacturer of the system, for all technical matters related to MCS, like new software deliveries or layer 3 and 4 support. Required qualifications and work experience Experience with similar control systems Linux and Bash scripting Basic IP networking Virtualisation Oracle database administration Experience with large software systems is an advantage Ability to investigate and troubleshoot problems Ability to work in a multinational team Good communication, planning and reporting skills A Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering or in an equivalent discipline Additional skills required Systemminded and a team player Able to work in an interdisciplinary team Selfstarter, able to work independently with little or no supervision Fluent in English, both in speech and writing German language skills would be an asset Benefits A permanent employment contract. Those are regular opportunities for experienced Satellite Engineers to work in the domain of satellite operations operations preparations on customer side EUMETSAT in Darmstadt. The key persons will be integrated in the MSG Spacecraft Operations Team. The tasks of the different roles depending on the qualification and background of the candidates are in the area of platform routine operations and operations preparation, spacecraft payload activities and systemengineering work.
