System Software Engineering support for Long Term Archive

The duties range from the support to the operation of the UNIXbased archive and retrieval system, to the analysis, design, development testing and maintenance of software functions maintaineddeveloped within the data services engineering team. This includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services as required. The particular focus on the tasks to be performed are the operational support, the software configuration management and the design, implementation and testing of software corrections and evolutions for meteorological data format conversions offered by the Data Centre. In particular the tasks will include Operational Support for responsible data services systems o Monitoring the performance and behavior o Problem Investigation and anomaly raising o First line System and Software support o Installation of software o OnCall support see section 5.2 o Big Data management and the related troubleshooting usage of Hierarchical Storage Management Software Configuration Management o release preparation o building o packaging o deployment Testing o Unit and Integration Testing o Acceptance and integration of external software o Verification Validation support PROFILE In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience of spacecraft andor ground segment procurement. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas minimum 5 years for each 1. System Maintenance Skills o Extensive experience in the provision of first line support for operational systems, which includes the monitoring of the performance, problem investigation, coordination of resolutions and oncall support. o Experience in the usage of hierarchical storage management systems preferred SAMfs and big data processing and management of the volumes. 2. Software Engineering Skills o Extensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications in the Java programming language under Unix Sun Solaris, Linux using Object Oriented OO approach including design patterns. The focus on the programming languages is Java but maintenance of existing software developed in CC is also needed when required. o Extensive experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and management of their schema. 3. System Development Maintenance Skills o Strong technical expertise for translating user requirements into software requirements, architecture evolution and implementation. o Extensive experience in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers. This includes requirements management, software design and implementation reflecting corrective and evolutions of software components. o Extensive experience in software validation and verification related activities test procedure generation, nonregression testing, requirements verification and validation. 4. Documentation and Software Configuration Management Skills o Experience in using software configuration management, anomaly reporting and tracking tools. 5. Software Technology Skills o Java programming language o Meteorological Data Format Conversions HDF5, NetCDF o Big Data Management Usage of Hierarchical Storage Management SAMfs o Tomcat Application server o Oracle JDBC, SQL and PLSQL o XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies o C programming language and Standard Template Library STL o Source Code control system SubVersion o Software Building and Package management o Unit testing frameworks e.g. JUnit o Eclipse. Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following software tools and products will be an advantage Meteorological Data formats JPEG2000, BUFR, GRIB, MSG MTPEPS native formats Programming o CORBA TAO o Enterprise Service Bus Mule o Groovy o IDL o Perl o Web Services Apache CFX o GWT Spatial Solutions Oracle Locator, PostgresPostgis OGC Standards such as CSW, WMS, WCS, WFS Single Sign On Solutions OpenSSO, OpenDS, SAML2, LDAP oXygen XML editor Requirements management DOORS Toolbased Software design UML Enterprise Architect Basic Linux or Windows 7 system administration. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy, team working and good analytical skills. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.

Responsibilities Duties The Flight Operations Project Management Support function is part of the Flight Operations Office within the Columbus Operations Division HSOIC. Typical tasks will include Organisation of meetings and related logistics Maintenance of documentation system Followup of actions and risks Monitoring of Anomaly Reporting System Coordination with the ESA Communications Office Support and followup of Lessons Learnt Processes Support to ESA certification of Flight Readiness for Reviews The specific duties will include Maintain a documentation management system for formal documents and correspondence document and file correspondence for NASA Change Requests, IDRD, IRD, and CCN updates and other high level ISS, HSF, and IOT documentation relevance to HSOICF tasks Support the organizational implementation of various ISS boards and reviews with HSOICF participation Maintain and follow up lists of HSOICF tasks, actions, identified risks and issues Independently monitor the Anomaly Reporting System and providing reports, excerpts monitor ART and MRB schedules and receive and file their reports Coordinate the IRD as main requirements document for ESA ISS operations and corresponding change notices, in support of the respective Mission Directors Independently support HSOICF in the coordination and preparation of all Certification of Flight Readiness CoFR activities for each stage and increment, as well as maintain the ESA CoFR process itself Independently support HSOICF in the coordination and preparation of the ESA certification of Flight Readiness for NASA Stage Operations Readiness Reviews SORRs Independent support the Chairman of the Mission Management Team meeting MMT and dedicated Operation meetings Ops tagups in the preparation of the weekly meetings by sending invitations, collecting meeting presentations and publishing them in a dedicated eroom folder, keeping minutes and the action item list for followup Coordinate PAO activities with the Communication Office and their integration in the ops community when ESA astronaut is onboard ISS Support and followup the LessonsLearned process Organise and provide general support to facilitate the ongoing ESA and IOT operations activities at ColCC, by arranging and coordinating meetings and visits interfacing with the local hosting organization for badging, access, logistics, site services and other organizational issues. Qualifications Experience Applicants should have a University Degree Bachelors, equivalent qualification in Business Administration or extensive experience in Administrative Management or Project Management. Essential Skills Applicants must be highly proficient in MS Office, Lotus Notes and PC based databases. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. Desirable Skills User knowledge of SAP and the ESA financial and procurement processes. Knowledge of the ESA ISS Operations Processes will be an asset. Meteosat Meteorological Product Support Consultancy 1313079 Job Description In general, the tasks of this Key Person will be towards the provision of support within EUMETSATs Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP to the routine monitoring and validation of satellite derived meteorological products. Within RSP, the Key Person will work in the team of the Atmospheric and Imaging Applications AIA in the group responsible for the routine product monitoring, validation and quality control, but in close interaction with the AIA scientists who are responsible for the development, maintenance and improvement of the processing algorithms. The focus of the product monitoring group is on the routine monitoring of the scientific quality of the operational products, validation of operational products, reaction to anomalies reported within this operational processing, support to the implementation process for new products or updates of existing products, and support to the necessary documentation work e.g. Algorithm Theoretical Baseline Documents, Validation Reports. The work will mainly deal with the products extracted from the series of EUMETSAT Meteosat geostationary satellites. An overview over the meteorological products derived from the EUMETSAT satellite data can be found in httpwww.eumetsat.intwebsitehomeDataProductsindex.html. It is expected that the tasks of the Key Person will include Support to the monitoring and validation activities of existing Meteosat algorithms and products. Support to new and enhanced algorithms and products, especially in the area of product validation. Preparation of technical notes and reports, notably with regard to validation reports. Attendance at technical meetings as required. Participation in RSPAIA team meetings. Required Skills and Experience University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects. Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years in the area of satellite meteorology or satellite data and products monitoring and quality control for optical imaging instruments. 3 years experience in software development in a Linux or Unix environment is required, together with at least 3 years experience in a higher programming language as e.g. Fortran90, C or C. Experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision. The Key Person shall also possess good interpersonal skills. Fluency in English Desirable Skills and Experience Experience with graphics packages like IDL or Matlab.
