Global Support Engineer Shift Lead United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Global Lead Support Engineer plays a critical role in managing the entire end to end operational lifecycle of SESs customer services and infrastructure. You will work collaboratively with operational, infrastructure and customer facing functions to help ensure the stable operation, reliability, and security of our customer services and infrastructure. You are responsible for Incident management, reporting, process implementation and compliance as well as mentoring and training Global Support Engineers to the highest level to support multiple technologies and services in a consistent and measurable fashion. Engineer, Station Support United States Hawley, Pennsylvania Your Job As a Station Support Engineer you will be responsible for implementation and operational support for ground systems and processes utilized to enable SESs spacecraft deploymentoperations as well as service delivery to SES customers. Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support within ESAC. Overview As a projectmission starts up a configuration management plan needs to be put in place. In addition, several tools need to be set up and maintained for effective configuration control, for example JIRA for project management, SubversionGit for version control, Jenkins for continuous integration, SonarQube for code quality and a document management system such as Livelink or Open Content Server all with associated user registration and permissions. Good configuration Management helps with good Quality assurance hence though the CM function is usually mission specific it is strongly supported and guided by PAQA service from SCIOOQ. In close liaison with SCIOP and in collaboration with the SCIOQ, the CM service includes the following tasks Develop and maintain CM including documentation management plan applicable to the Gaia mission. Contribute to develop and maintain CM procedures and practices applicable to SCIO and customized per mission where needed. Provide feedback to SCIOQ to support the development and maintenance of configuration control procedures and practices applicable to SCIO. Ensure that all authorized changes are implemented in accordance with the software configuration management plan. Define and implement the configuration identification items, baselines, versions, etc. process. Responsible of the configuration item storage libraries, environments, media control, etc. Define and implement procedures configuration change control for the project. Define and implement the configuration status accounting process e.g. releases. Provide the software release document and CIDL when needed. Maintain configuration item lists for missions, products and systems. Manage document releases to the document repository in conformance with the document management plan. Convene and support CCB meetings. Support test preparation, data, HW, procedures, etc. Support TRR and TRBs and the setup and maintenance of the test environment when needed. Maintain methods and tools relevant to CM activities e.g. JIRA. Perform routine user maintenance tasks for CM tools. Support the selection and implementation of the development environment and verify availability to developers and users on time. Specific Software Engineering Support for Gaia Maintenance of existing code modules such as MDB, AGIS, IDT and Gaia Tools java Library as requested Aid in the creation of the future astrometric solutions. Populating the operational AGIS processing DB with IDT and all needed auxiliary data Specific qualification requirements University degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, Astrophysics or in equivalent relevant fields. Experience on ESA Science Ground Segment software engineering processes, such as ECSSEST40C and ECSSQST80C standards. Expertise producing software related documentation and knowledge of Latex will be valuable. Experience in software configuration control processes and tools. Good understanding of quality and product assurance process in the software development cycle. Several years of working experience in programming languages such as Java, C, Python. Experience in data modelling and database design. Expertise in the development and command of modern and commonly used scientific analysis software, ideally with applications in Space Science. Good understanding of Scientific Operations of an international spacebased observatory. Excellent analytical and communication experience. A high level of written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in Spanish also desirable. Flexibility and appreciation of diversity and of international working environment. Excellent organisation skills for projects execution and associated documentation. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Spain without the need to obtain a work visa. Only European Union citizens can be employed by Aurora in Spain. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Location It is expected that the work will be performed at the ESAC, the European Space Astronomy Centre, at Villafranca del Castillo, near Madrid, Spain.
