Summary An opportunity for an experienced Power Conditioning Engineer to work onsite at ESTEC for Telespazio VEGA UK. Objective To provide specialist support in power electronics and associated technology, in particular in the area of Digital Control of power converters, to spacecraft projects within the Power Management Distribution Section. Responsibilities Duties The duties of the Power Management Distribution Secion The design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications. This work encompasses the definition of centralised power systems having overall power levels up to 25 kilowatts, together with their interfaces with respect to solar arrays and batteries, the attendant power distributionprotection equipment and pyrotechnic activation functions. Detailed tasks include the overall system design necessary for the development of fault tolerant power control and distribution concepts, the detailed design of the power regulators and the identificationuse of tools and methods for ensuring dependable design and verification. The development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units useful for the independent evaluation of critical power and energy budgets in support to running projects of the Agency. Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution solar array and battery conversion electronics, power distribution and protection electronics, power conversion for generic and specific purposes, including redundancy and protections. Active involvement in critical RD activities support by simulation, worst case analysis and laboratory testing of the overall system or of the most critical subunits. Assisting to the development and validation of worst case simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, critical telemetry or telecommand functions useful for the independent check of the most critical equipment functionality and performances, in support to all programmes reviews where the power conditioning section is involved. The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters, suitable for application as Electronic Power Conditioners EPCs for specialized spacecraft payloads such as Travelling Wave Tube Assemblies TWTAs and Electric Propulsion Concepts. The duties of the Power Conditioning Engineer will include but are not limited to Providing specialist support in the area of Digital Control of power converters in space systems, with respect to design, development and test, using microcontroller programming of FPGAs in VHDL and GaN semiconductors. Activities in electrical power processing, utilising good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory. Activities in the domain of power conditioning electronics, utilising proven handson knowledge of the circuit design of such systems. Development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators. Qualifications Experience PhD or Master or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Physics. Knowledge and the experience on High Voltage power conditioning for space applications is an asset. Proven experience in Digital Control of power converters is essential. Proven experience in FPGA and microcontroller programming VHDL. Proven experience in the design of power converters with GaN semiconductors. Knowledge on space power conversion systems is an asset. Familiarity with simulation software for analogue systems MathlabSimulink or similar and circuit analysis tools such as PSPICE or Microcap is an asset. Essential Skills Good English language skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree of organizational and communication abilities, and the ability to work comfortably in a diverse, multinational team environment. Main Responsibilities As Data Record Processing and Reporting Engineer you will be in charge of handling the routine reprocessing for Climate Data Record CDR generation, involving the handling of Earth Observation source data for these activities, the operating and monitoring of computing processes and the graceful ingestion of the results into the Data Centre Archive. The operational activities are performed in close coordination with the Climate Services Team and include the provision of the following services Carry out the routine activities of meteorological product reprocessing and climate data set generation Scheduling of the processing activities with the implementation and validation teams Monitor the production process and generate routine reports and documentation Address processing problems and raise anomaly reports Prepare inputs to climate product processing and validation Prepare the graceful ingestion of the products generated into the Data Centre Archive Support users user queries on accessing the products generated. Maintain the data organisation on the storage system used for reprocessing Organise and oversee data provision download of 3rd party data needed for reprocessing from external partners Organise the media data delivery of reprocessed data to special users.
