Job description For our customer, ESAESTEC, we are seeking an experienced Product Assurance Safety Engineer to work at ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Responsibilities You will be assigned to the Quality Assurance and Management Section TECQQM within the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. The task involves supporting the product assurance activities related typically to the phase CD of ESA projects and associated reviews including safety reviews that occur during these phases. In particular, this will involve participation to the design, manufacturing, integration and test activities, e.g. preliminarycritical design reviews PDRCDRs, manufacturing readiness reviews MRR, mandatory inspection points MIPs, test readiness reviews TRRs, posttest reviews PTRs. Specifically, this position will initially focus on the Euclid project as below Support the Euclid Product Assurance Safety PAS Manager in all activities related to the execution of the Product Assurance Programme for the Euclid Project and deputising for the PAS Manager as required Participate to manufacturing, integration and test activities, e.g. manufacturing readiness reviews MRR, mandatory inspection points MIPs, test readiness reviews TRRs, test review boards TRBs Support the Risk Management and Configuration Management processes within the ESA Project Team, including the disposition of Request for Deviations and Request for Waivers RFDs RFWs Support the PAS Manager to ensure the effective implementation and execution of the nonconformance identification and reporting mechanisms within the contractor supply chain and confirm the correct and formal closure of nonconformances Assist the PAS Manager in ensuring that all formally delivered items within the Project supply chain conform with requirements using formal acceptance reviews Delivery Review Boards DRBs Produce reports on project and review activities, including conclusions and recommendations where necessary, participate in progress meetings, when needed and reporting on project PA status. Qualifications Competencies The successful candidate will have A Masters level degree in an engineering discipline or the technical sciences. A minimum of 10 years experience in the space sector include 5 years in Product and Quality Assurance. Good knowledge of the applicable space standards ECSS. Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 would be an asset. Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree of organizational and communication abilities, and comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment. Responsibilities You will be assigned to the Power Management Distribution Section within the within the Directorate of Technology Quality Engineering. The position covers the following tasks The design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications. This work encompasses the definition of centralised power systems having overall power levels up to 25 kilowatts, together with their interfaces with respect to solar arrays and batteries, the attendant power distributionprotection equipment and pyrotechnic activation functions. Detailed tasks include the overall system design necessary for the development of faulttolerant power control and distribution concepts, the detailed design of the power regulators and the identificationuse of tools and methods for ensuring dependable design and verification. The development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units useful for the independent evaluation of critical power and energy budgets in support to running projects of the Agency. Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution solar array and battery conversion electronics, power distribution and protection electronics, power conversion for generic and specific purposes, including redundancy and protections. Active involvement in critical RD activities support by simulation, worst case analysis and laboratory testing of the overall system or of the most critical subunits. Assisting to the development and validation of worst case simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, and critical telemetry or telecommand functions useful for the independent check of the most critical equipment functionality and performances, in support to all programmes reviews where the power conditioning section is involved.
