Main responsibilities The successful candidates activity will cover mainly the following tasks Assist with the integration, configuration and running of RF test equipment andor RF test setups employed in evaluating the performance of RF subsystems or instruments for space application such as Atomic Clocks and Time and Frequency Test beds. Navigation payloads. Linear and Nonlinear characterisation of subsystemsdevices. Life limited RF payload equipment PIM performance, multipactor performance and high power evaluation. Remote sensing space born radar Calibration transponders. TTC and Communication test beds. Development of software using VEE andor Lab View for automated testing, control and monitoring of RF performance. MICMMIC integration using dedicated equipment such as wire and ribbon bonding machines, eutectic die bonding and testing using on wafer probing station. General laboratory support such as, scheduled maintenance, calibration of the laboratory equipment, continuous upgrade of test facilities, replacement of consumables, design of mechanical housings, thermal plates and test jigs for RF circuits. Maintaining the Divisional TECEF equipment inventory list, which involves useoperation of dedicated software for traceability and control of inventory including lent out equipment. Organisation and maintenance of laboratory library, which includes documentation operating manuals, test reports and general documentation. Ideal candidate The successful candidate will bring a Technical Degree Bsc., Diploma or equivalent from a recognised institution or equivalent, together with at least 4 years of experience in a relevant area. Furthermore, the Key Person will have A strong background in RF, microwave and millimetre wave technologies and experience in preparation of test setups, integration and testing of RF Equipment Active, Passive, timefrequency references and RF Payloads. Good experience with LabViewVee Pro and tools for automated testing, control and monitoring of RF performance. Good working knowledge of Thermal Vacuum chamberssystems is required. Experience in maintenance and calibration of general RF laboratory test equipment and instrumentation. Good experience with various industrystandard CAD tools, and generic software tools for payload systems monitoring and control Fluent English. Systems Engineer Optical Payload

Primary Purpose of the Role The Systems Engineer will work with the Lead Systems Engineer on Equipment, PayloadPlatforms activities within phase ABCD of proposalsprojects focusing on optical design architecture and optics alignment. The Systems Engineer will define requirements, architecture, design and verification for space systems in accordance with relevant European Space Agency flight standards. This will be completed in accordance with relevant Thales Quality Management and industry Standards. Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager with technical oversight provided by the Design Authority. The main duties and responsibilities will include Experience in space optical system design, image sensors and filters Experience in calibration, alignment testing for optical payloads Perform modelling, simulation and tradeoffs for the payloads Analysis of customer requirements and flow them into a compliant subsystem specifications Deliver technical documents and estimates for proposals and reviews on time. Selection of parts suitable for the space environment Interface Management and Specification Requirements Engineering through the engineering project Critically review inputs from the different teams systems, software, mechanicalthermal Definition of test procedures Supporting integration and testing at unit and Spacecraft level Support to reviews at all levels of the design, development and testing of the function Liaise with customers and subcontractors on technical issues Experience with Requirements management tools such as DOORS, and modelling tools will be an advantage Experience with scripting languages Experience with MatlabSimulink Experience with Zemacs would be an asset The position will be based at the TASUK Bristol office but up to 10 of work may need to be conducted at subcontractors or customer premises, typically in UK or Europe.
