The successful applicant will work at the core of meteorological satellite operations in Europe as Payload Data Ground Segment Systems Engineer for Telespazio VEGA and support EUMETSAT through the different phases in the life cycle of EUMETSAT systems. You will contribute to activities mainly corresponding to the various stages of the Detailed Design Phase C of a programme under definition and development, and implementation and validation Phase D as contribution to the Integration, Verification and Validation. These activities will mainly focus on the EPSSG programme. This position is based in Darmstadt, Germany. It is fulltime and permanent. ResponsibilitiesDuties Requirements engineering related to the verification processes incompassing downward and upward traceability with respect to the control databases and the verification process Design of the conceptual build and configuration resulting in a physical architecture Planning, preparation and execution of the integration and verification to demonstrate that the design fits the requirements Requirements engineering in DOORS, including review, specification and refinement of existing requirements. Support the procurement of payload data acquisition and processing elements by advising on technical solutions and by reviewing documentation. Refining ICDs between payload data acquisition processing elements and other Ground Segment functions. Review of System, Space Segment and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing, including review of calibration concepts defined by the Space Segment with emphasis on their implications on Ground Segment data processing concepts, interfaces and architecture Verification and validation IVV of the integrated Ground Segment Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings at System and Ground Segment level. In addition, this role will encompass a degree of Service Management responsibilities, hence offering you the chance to implement and develop managerial skills Distributing tasks and actions and providing directions to the key persons for the performance of the service in line with the service requirements. Following up, monitoring and managing the execution of the Work Packages and reporting to EUMETSAT on their progress status by delivering progress reports on a monthly basis. Participating in management coordination meetings with EUMETSAT. QualificationsExperience University degree or similar in engineering or science, together with several years of working experience in a relevant area. Essential Skills Experience in the preparation of ground segment documentation relating to requirements engineering, design, and IVV planning and execution Extensive experience in payload data ground segments for large and complex Earth Observation missions, including L1L2 processing software. Service Management experience is an asset. Fluency in the English language. Ground Systems Operations Engineer SC172080 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT. You would be working within the System Engineering and Projects Division supporting system engineering activities for Operational systems. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes and will support the SEP Division with the following activities Supporting the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Ground Segment reference architecture. Supporting the assessment of impacts to the Ground Segment of changes required for operational systems, resulting from evolution and maintenance activities. This includes analysing engineering change requests on the operational ground segments supporting the investigation of anomalies on the ground segment, including the endtoend view and understanding of the systems coordinating with different teams in order to assess the impact of the requested changes attending daily operationrelated meetings in order to remain uptodate with the progress of the activities. Supporting the update and maintenance of the documentation of operational ground segments as follow up actions stemming from agreed evolution and changes of the systems. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline Experience in the field of systems engineering, maintenance and operations of ground segment systems Experience in maintenance and evolution lifecycle Knowledge of the systems making up a ground segment, their interrelations, interactions and understand the implications that making changes in one system have on others. Extensive experience in the analysis of systems applications and modelling. Space and Ground System engineering processes, and System and Software lifecycles and standards. Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering methods, techniques and tools. Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset. Definition, management and traceability of requirements with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS. You shall be able to fulfill the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple parallel tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communications skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. You shall have good interpersonal skills and proactive attitude with strong ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
