Ground Segment Systems Operations Engineer 162130 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Systems Operations Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT. You would be working within the System Engineering and Projects Division supporting system engineering activities for Operational systems. You will be a member of a multidisciplinary system engineering team interacting with operational programmes and future programmes and will support the SEP Division with the following activities Supporting the consolidation, evolution and maintenance of the Ground Segment reference architecture. Supporting the assessment of impacts to the Ground Segment of changes required for operational systems, resulting from evolution and maintenance activities. This includes analysing engineering change requests on the operational ground segments supporting the investigation of anomalies on the ground segment, thanks to the endtoend view and understanding of the systems coordinating with different teams in order to assess the impact of the requested changes attending daily operationrelated meetings in order to remain uptodate with the progress of the activities. Supporting the update and maintenance of the documentation of operational ground segments as follow up actions stemming from agreed evolution and changes of the systems. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline Experience in the field of systems engineering, maintenance and operations of ground segment systems Experience in maintenance and evolution lifecycle Knowledge of the systems making up a ground segment, their interrelations, interactions and understand the implications that making changes in one system have on others. Desirable Skills and Experience Familiarity with formal architecture frameworks e.g., MODAF, TOGAF, DODAF will be a valuable appreciated asset. Our client, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. One of their objectives is to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. They are seeking a Communications and Networks Systems Engineer to be part of the Comms team supporting all phases of communications system specification, design, development, operations and evolution for all comms systems. The Consultant shall have the following mandatory skills and experience at least five years experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Communications systems Internet Protocol network design, specification, documentation, testing, fault finding, and evolution. Indepth knowledge of Cisco design methodologies, technologies and solutions ideally including enterprise WLAN infrastructure. It will be beneficial if the key person holds current Cisco certifications or equivalent Familiarity with the trend to virtualise the above technologies and to recommend and justify when and why such approaches may be optimal, in addition to then deploying and supporting them e.g. SDNs. Security skills associated with securing the communication system e.g. next generation firewalls, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, strong authentication. Skills appropriate to associated domains e.g. computing clientserver, storage, dissemination. Communications and Networks Systems Engineer 1613125 Job Description We are looking for a Communications and Networks Systems Engineer to support our client EUMETSAT based at their headquarters. You shall be employed within a leveraged allmission team, requiring the ability to switch rapidly between the multitude of roles e.g. project support, operations as required. The team support the full range of Comms Systems, from provision of support to new networks systems requirement and design, support of operational systems and those transitioning to operations status, and integration of legacy systems and their eventual replacement or decommissioning Your responsibilities within this team will be Ownership of customer communications systems needs. Prime interface and point of contact for ensuring customers needs are understood and translated to technical specifications and constraints. Owning the responsibility to identify gaps between what the customer requires and the policy and technical constraints that may need to be mitigated e.g. security policy adherence. Leading the rollout of customer solutions within the projectprogramme and being the liaison between the Comms Team and the ProjectProgramme throughout. Obtaining and ensuring customer buyin and joint ownership of deliverables. Ownership of the network performance and management solution delivered and the servicesolution quality delivered to the customer. Actively contribute to the substantial scheduling challenge integrating the project schedule with other schedules through liaison with multiple stakeholders to ensure that project requirements are met, whilst facilitating the most effective deconfliction with existing network operations for operational systems. You will provide prime support to the Comms Team and will contribute to the requirements specification, design and development of Comms Systems, including the setting up of the related maintenance arrangements and processes. A demonstrable ability to analyse complex systems and present them in a comprehensible way to across other technical and managerial domains, with the specific ability to understand and communicate the relevant detail whilst maintaining focus on the overall systemwide aspects. Experience with estimating and scheduling of multiple concurrent technical activities such that milestones and their likely achievement can be communicated. Communication skills, in terms of experience in authoring technical and project documentation, and then being able to present it to a broad audience in English Development, Verification Maintenance Skills You should demonstrate substantial recent direct experience with all aspects of network engineering within a comparable ideally satellite ground system and ICT communications system lifecycle. This should include for example identification of needs to deployment, operations and eventual decommissioning, and explain how those skill and experience would be directly relevant to meeting the requirements of the position. Supporting examples should be provided of recent experience where such skills have been deployed. This would include experience with mature change, configuration, capacity and problem management processes and systems. Evidence of having worked with customers and stakeholders to extract and document business or crossdomain requirements, translating them into technical formal communications requirements for delivery within a project methodology. Experience in the design and delivery of test plans such that deliverables can be validated against their likely ability to meet stated requirements.
