The Position We are looking for C software engineers ideally with ATMATC or critical safety relevant and meaningful background to develop and support solutions for Air Traffic Control ATC systems. These systems are designed, developed, deployed and maintained by our customer, Deutsche Flugsicherung DFS, the German Air Navigation Service Provider ANSP, aligning with the highest quality standards. The position is based on the customer headquarters, in Langen Frankfurt am Main. You will be collaborating in a diverse team which comprises developers, testers and integrators, taking part in the full software development. As a Systems Engineer you will be at the heart of ensuring all elements of this complex system work together to deliver world leading meteorological products. The Systems Engineer contributes to the system engineering activities, those related to requirements engineering, system budgets engineering, management of the system design and its interfaces. Background EUMETSAT is developing its next generation geostationary satellite system, Meteosat Third Generation MTG, in partnership with the European Space Agency ESA, and will launch the first three MTG satellites in the 20222025 period. The MTG system includes three satellites of two different types, for imagery MTGI and sounding MTGS missions and a comprehensive ground segment for mission control, data acquisition and processing and delivery of real time products to users, and a number of system support tools. Duties Working in collaboration with other engineering teams MTGS instrument functional chain, ground segment, verification teams, operations preparation, and relevant MTG project management bodies Contribute to the maintenance of the system requirements and the technical baseline, identifying evolutions and analysing the acceptability of deviations and waivers Contribute to maintaining the system architecture and design and managing its interfaces Establish, maintain and manage system level technical budgets, including system performances and relevant margins Generate, maintain and manage the system analyses in support of the verification process Contribute to the preparation of in orbit commissioning activities including prelaunch validation activities Ensure that the system is built in line with the requirements and design Support system commissioning of successive versions of the MTG system, comprising one, two and three satellites in orbit including recurrent satellite launches. Position Reference 605 You will have the opportunity to provide engineering support to the AOCS Pointing Systems Section. You will support in the AOCS architecture, AOCS Design and Tuning, AOCS Validation and Verification, AOCS HW procurement and AOCS Support to Spacecraft Operations. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Definition and implementation of AOCS Attitude and Orbit Control Systems for Earth Observation, Telecom, Navigation satellites and for Astronomy Observatories. The functional support provided to these projects e.g. Sentinel, Earth Care, MTG, Alphasat, Small GEO, Galileo, GAIA, Solar Orbiter, includes Participation to project reviews SRR, PDR CDR . AOCS design, analyses and simulations control loops design and modelling, FDIR, independent simulator setup, functional verification and performance budgets. Review of AOCS SW implementation. Sensors and actuators selection and procurement support. AIVAIT support test benches, review of test plans and test results. Operations support review of Operations Manual, rehearsal and LEOP. Support to inorbit analysis. Conception, initialisation and supervision of corresponding enabling AOCS technology RD High Accuracy Pointing, Generic AOCS Architecture Building Blocks, Innovative AOCS FDIR Solutions including prototyping and tools development. Sensors and inertial actuators technology development APS, Star Trackers, sun sensors, Earth sensors, magnetometers, gyros, accelerometers, magnetotorquers, reaction wheels, CMGs. Development and utilisation of the Control Hardware Laboratory e.g. sensor characterisation and testing. Maintenance, development and setup of AOCS simulation tools. Participation to the elaboration and promotion of ECSS standards in the E60 domain. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Masters Degree in Control and Aerospace engineering. You have a minimum 4 years of experience in AOCS engineering in European industry or institutional entity. You have a background experience in AOCS Design, Validation and Testing as well as AOCS HW procurement. You have proven experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of AOCS systems in different project phases. You have HW knowledge sensors, computer, actuators. You have experience in AOCS AIT at subsystem and system level. You have proven knowledge of commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB. You are able to interface with industry.
