We are looking for a Software Support Engineer E3 to join our Modis Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in Harwell, United Kingdom. Modis Aerospace is a specialized Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years experience providing aerospace Engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. Modis is a longstanding business partner of the European Space Agency ESA, with more than 120 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESAs activities. Specific tasks to be performed The post holder will be responsible for the maintenance and development of software tools for managing a large number 350 of research and development activities over their whole life cycle, including Development and maintenance of TIAapplications that gather, analyse and present programmatic data associated with research and development activities contracts. Development and maintenance of new software tools according to TIA wide needs. Migration of existing applications to a common application environment. Development and maintenance of application documentation including user guides and software developmentmaintenance documentation. User training, including preparation of training materials. Resolution of technical issues raised by application users. Management of software change requests and software updates in a timely manner with minimal user disruption. Provide inputs to management reports. Follow the relevant and applicable ISO procedures and security directives. Maintain the required level of confidentiality and security as defined in the ESA Security Directives. Contribute to harmonisation of tools, SWdevelopment and procedure in TIA, actively exchange knowledge with team members andor other IT professionals in ESA and especially within the TIA domain. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Masters Degree in Engineering At least 4 years of relevant work experience Experience in software development for business management applications. Knowledge and at least five years of practical experience in developing web applications. Technical knowledge and experience of the following technologies would be a distinct advantageMicrosoft SharePoint, SOA, SQL, HTTPHTTPS Protocol, REST, Email Protocols, LDAP, Unix CLI, HTML, CSS, JAVA 7, Javascript. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including VBA scripting. Good Communication skills. Problem Solving Results Orientation Teamwork and Customer Focus Planning Organisation Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU About ESA ECSAT The European Centre for Space Applications and Telecommunications ECSAT is ESAs new facility in the United Kingdom. It is based at the Harwell Science, Innovation and Business Campus in Oxfordshire. ECSAT is the most recent addition to ESAs operational sites across Europe. First opened in 2009, ECSAT will be developed by ESA following agreements reached between the UK and ESA in November 2012.
