We are currently looking for a Science Operations Engineer for LISA Pathfinder to support our customer in Spain. Science Operations Engineer for LISA Pathfinder Key Tasks and Responsibilities You will be part of the team to support the ESA STOC Science and Technology Operations Centre during its final preparation for operations and the operational phase and have the following responsibilities Support the final preparation of the STOC for operations Installation of the STOC software modules e.g. Mission Planning, Data Ingestion, Simulator in their operational environment at STOC, their configuration control and their acceptance tests STOC integration Ground Segment Tests Provide service support for the definition, preparation and execution of the STOC integration tests, the Ground Segment tests SOVTs and the STOC Simulations Provide services to the following operational duties o Generation of the operational payload mission planning files o Monitoring of data ingestion tasks o Support to data archiving tasks o Investigation of payload anomalies and the implementation of the recovery Maintenance of the STOC operational databases as well as operations plans and procedures Monitoring of the maintenance of the software modules and provide to the developers the priorities for the resolution of the software problems as seen from the users side. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University background in a scientific or technical subject or equivalent Several years of professional experience in the preparation, testing and operations of a scientific operations centre or a similar system Experience in satellite payload operations Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Science Data Processing Applications Engineer

This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a Consultant with experience in system design, software development, operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of large complex realtime data processing systems for meteorological satellites. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The successful candidate will be part of the clients Supporting Applications Engineering team supporting the maintenance and evolution of off line Ground Segment elements, specifically for quality control, calibration and validation, data visualisation and auxiliary data management and services. The application software is mainly developed in CC, PERL, and Python. For data visualisation a good knowledge in IDL and ENVI is required. The duties will include a range of tasks, from the support of the day to day operation and maintenance, the analysis, design, development and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Objective To support the further improvement of the calibration and data products in the archive. Responsibilities Duties The engineer will be expected to perform the following service tasks. The priorities of each task and the level to which they are performed will depend on the needs of the observatory plus the capabilities of the successful candidates To understand the general workings of the PACS andor SPIRE science instruments of Herschel, sufficient to be able to answer general community questions To become responsible for the documentation of the PACS or SPIRErelated elements of the Herschel Explanatory Supplement and data processing documentation.
