Qualifications Experience Completed university degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or equivalent with high grades A good working knowledge of English. Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for a Flight Dynamics Operations Engineer with the primary areas of responsibility being Test and Validation for Science Missions. Additionally, you may be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for other missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering. Primary activities are related to JUICE however potentially also related to EUCLID and CLUSTERII. Responsibilities The general activities are Test and Validation Execution of and support to operational tasks Validation of operational Flight Dynamics products, such as command parameter sets, reports, event predictions and acquisition data before delivery to FCT and other users Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and actitivities across subsystems General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date as soon as possible but not later than 1st November 2019. Overview Good testing is essential for smooth operations hence it is an integral and important part of the Space Operations Center SOC development. The SOC System Engineer shall support the System Testing Activities and the tasks include Construct test, verification and validation plans and procedures for SOC systemssubsystems, for the SOC overall and for all interfaces to SOC. Organisation of Test Readiness Reviews TRRs Test Review Boards TRBs. Contribute to procedure writing and the implementation of those procedures. Test procedures and operate SOC testintegration systems. Test SOC systems for the daily processing. Test SOC systems for the generation of products to send to MOC. Test SOC interfaces. Coordinate Subsystem Test execution in collaboration with all parties involved. Generate test reports and requirements coverage by testing. Maintain the overall test procedures and test logbook. Strong experience with Test Management and System Level Testing. Strong experience with Operations and Operations Preparation within the Scientific Ground Segment. Strong experience with working with AGILE and DevOps methodologies. Working experience with Java, C, Shell, Ruby Perl, Python. Strong experience with working with ESA Standards. A high level of written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in Spanish also desirable. Excellent organisation skills for projects execution and associated documentation. In their capacity, the incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring effectively delivery of the Climate Change Initiatives knowledge exchange strategy as well as providing support and advice on knowledge exchange in order to encourage the use of Climate Office knowledge and results by business, public and civil society, with the final objective to influence policy and practices. The post holder reports to the Head of the ESA Climate Office of the Science, Exploitation and Climate Department.
