The textile fiber prices have mostly declined in the past weeks, over a weakness in demand from downward processors. After rebounding in April and May, cotton and polyester prices have returned to lower levels, whereas nylon was rising, however. Fiber prices could now decline further. Polyester fiber prices are falling in China, where demand is depressed by high inventory levels at spinning mills and filament weaving plants. Polyester prices have rebounded in Pakistan, by contrast. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fibers (PSF) and the Polyester Filament Yarns (POY, DTY, FDY) in China, India, and Pakistan. The gross margins have also dropped at spinning mills, moving into different directions over the last three months, however. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber prices and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India, and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. The gross margins of spinners are also calculated. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

Fiber prices have dropped in the last days in China, due to a lack of demand back from the Dragon Boat holidays. Cotton and polyester prices have rebounded in the second quarter, leaving spinners with lower margins and operating rates. Domestic and Import yarn price indicators are released, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang), including a large number of counts for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends.
