Polyester prices have further resisted the dramatic fall of crude oil prices, mostly due to a sharp drop of operating rates in this period of the year, ahead of February holidays. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) and Polyester Filament Yarn (PFY) prices on the domestic market, including a price comparison of polyester staple fibers with cotton and viscose. The gross margin of polyester spun yarn producers is also released.

Crude oil prices may have plunged in the last week, polyester chain prices have not followed the same way, as producers prefer protecting their margins by reducing their operating rates. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
