You will have the opportunity to provide engineering support to the Future Missions Office and Prodex Office at the European Space Agency located in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Design of analogue and digital electronics in support of various payload instrument validation activities with a particular emphasis on detector readout electronics Manufacturing and test of electronic circuits Supporting electronic system, components and electrooptical sensor characterisations in the sections laboratories Development of firmware and instrument control and readout software Supporting the development and maintenance of the technical infrastructure needed to validate payload technologies Generally supporting office activities contributing to the elaboration and implementation of the Science Programme technology development plans Evaluation of proposals in response to calls for missions, participation in reviews, payload expertise in support of system studies Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have an Academic qualification in electronics engineering complemented by several years of handson project or industrial experience in the design, engineering, performance analysis and testing of electronic circuits, preferably in the space domain. You have expertise in lownoise analogue, highspeed digital techniques and mixedsignal circuits. You have handson experience with such electronic designs and relevant CAD and simulation tools. You have a good knowledge of sensor technologies covering wavelengths ranging from IR to gammarays, electrooptical characterisation, cryogenics, and or the design considerations for spacebased payloads would be an asset. You are creative and have very good problemsolving skills. Given the you will be working in a small team, you should also be flexible and able to multitask. An Analogue engineer is required within the hardware team of the Communication Products group to work on the development of Digital Processors for Telecommunications Satellites, working for a variety of international and UK customers on a number of exciting projects for the European Space Agency. The hardware team is responsible for generating design concepts and detailed design, simulation and schematic capture of analogue and power circuits. This includes support to PCB layout using Mentor tools to validate power and signal integrity. The design process includes component evaluation and selection, PSpice simulation of designs and breadboard testing, and design support to manufacturing test for all our Digital Processor products. Key activities in this role will include Creating the analogue hardware elements of our Digital Processors, including circuit design, simulation and schematic capture with breadboard evaluation. Detailed support will be given to the PCB layout team to ensure the product meets stringent performance and specification requirements. Support to equipment FMECA and Parts Stress Analysis using spreadsheets and simulation tools. Validation of the hardware will require analysis simulation plus testing of breadboard models. Generating documentation to support the equipment design, following design processes and supporting technical customer reviews. Performing a Worst Case Analysis using circuit analysis and PSpice Monte Carlo simulation. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Proven experience in Circuit Simulation ie. Cadence PSpice. Experience with low voltage DC power systems supplying high speed digital electronics ie FPGA ASIC, ADC DAC. Experience of DCDC converters ideally for Avionics, Military or Space applications Power Design, or Power Conditioning, Power Supplies, Power FETs. Knowledge of PCB Design Mentor or equivalent.
