For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Ground Stations Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks This position for consultancy support for a Ground Stations Operations Engineer required for daytoday operations and evolutions of the current EUMETSAT ground stations including MSG, MTP and EPS systems. It is also required that the key person provides support to the development, operations preparation and eventually routine operations phases of the future programmes EPSSG, MTG and JCS. The Key Person will support the Ground Stations and External Interfaces GSEI team within the RSO division and shall support the daily operations of the Ground Stations and their interfaces to the other components of the ground segments to ensure their maximum availability and reliability. This role will focus on the ground stations supporting EUMETSATs geostationary GEO satellites MTP, MSG and MTG but the engineer will also be expected to support the low earth orbit LEO stations when required. In addition, the Key Person will be expected to acquire and maintain Systemwide knowledge of the Ground Segments, particularly in the areas of spacecraft monitoring control and the flow of mission data, due to the central role the ground station plays in spacecraft and ground segment operations. The tasks will include Longterm planning and shortterm scheduling of the operational usage of the ground stations to support both the needs of the Flight Operations Division FLO and Ground Stations engineering team Interface with project teams for the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects and major activities described in the Operational System MidTerm Evolution Plan. This will include ground station changes required to support major space segment evolutions Interfacing with the ground stations maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance by the ground stations, including participating in the definition, specification and implementation of any changes Planning and coordination of upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the engineering teams and FLO division Organising the validation of these upgrades, repairs and evolutions with the Controller Teams Definition and maintenance of ground station operations procedures and operations guides Maintaining operational ground stations databases Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and correctionmitigation, participation in associated Anomaly Review Boards Provision of training, through production and presentation of written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Department The role will require good communications skills, to allow the effective communication of information under a variety of circumstances. The Key Person should be used to working proactively within team and being able to work with the minimum of supervision. The variety of the tasks and the scope and complexity of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. During critical operational periods or following major maintenance upgrades, the engineer will also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of ground station engineers. Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent ground stations experience, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes At least five years experience in ground stations TTC operations in support of multiple Geostationary GEO andor Low Earth Orbit LEO spacecraft At least five years experience in a realtime 247 spacecraft operations environment, ideally in an earth observation environment Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills Desirable requirements Experience of the following would be a distinct advantage Major upgrades or evolutions of operational ground stations Defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground stations Interfaces between ground stations and ground segments Firstline hardware and software failure diagnosis and correction Baseband operation and configuration Other Information Start date is 1st January 2017 Fluency in English is mandatory To apply please visit www.scisys.despacejobs

Tasks The areas of responsibility of this position cover both the EUMETSAT operational building infrastructure aspects operational rooms, power, cooling, etc ... and the Storage Network Infrastructure SNI for Data protection aspects. The Storage Network Infrastructure provides a backbone of storage services to all EUMETSAT programs unified under a management framework. It satisfies storage service requirements in terms of size, performance, redundancy, availability, security, supports meteorological archive, data protection and disaster recovery. As a support to the GSI IME team, the Ground Segment Infrastructure Maintenance Engineer shall provide support to the Copernicus Sentinel3 operational support and maintenance of the Copernicus Sentinel3 infrastructure. The duties range from the installation, testing, maintenance and operational support of the missionspecific and MME infrastructure. This may include the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external service providers. In the performance of these tasks, the consultant shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. The consultant is expected to support the writing and reviewing of the requirement specifications and change proposals, to support the preparation of procurements, to participate in technical inspections and reviews, to support the documentation of the ground segment infrastructure system design, to contribute to the writing of evaluation reports, review reports, test reports and overall status reports and to support the change Management procedures related to Copernicus Sentinel3 and MME infrastructure. The tasks of the Consultant will include Generate and maintain installation documentation, including layout diagrams, Infrastructure Interface Control Documents, cabling database, network diagrams using the Struxurware data center management and iPatch cabling management tools Contribute to the definition of the layouts in the operational rooms Perform the physical installation of infrastructure for the S3 equipment installation, such as cables, interface panels, network devices, consoles, racks and furniture. Support the evaluation of compatibility of Data protection solution proposed by the S3 programme with the existing SNI operational system Liaison with the external providers of SNI HW and SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Maintain the S3 Requirements Specifications on Operational Infrastructure, covering the building infrastructure and SNI for Data protection aspects Participation in any necessary meetings and reviews Provision of support, as required, to critical operations during system commissioning operations.
