Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Investigation and rectification of anomalies reported by the operationsmaintenance team Interface with the maintenance services providers at technical level Reporting on the performance of the Ground Stations and associated systems together with a status report of any ongoing activities Attendance at the relevant coordination meetings to plan and schedule Ground Station activities ensuring compliance with Operational activities and constraints Provision of Ground Stations support to operations during critical mission phases, pre and post launch i.e. SVT, LEOP, IOT and contingency Maintenance of operational Ground Stations procedures, databases and documentation in accordance with the configuration management and quality assurance practices Planning and scheduling the implementation, testing and validation phases of any modificationsimprovements Providing technical support for the management of ongoing Ground Stations contracts including changes Provide support to new programs in the areas of definition, development and integration of Ground Stations Provision of support to the analysis of obsolescence and evolution changes to the ground stations. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline At least 5 years experience in the 247 Operations and Maintenance of Large Ground Stations andor Ground Stations EngineeringIntegration used for GEO andor LEO missions. Ground Station design, integration and testing, particularly in the areas of Antenna, RF, Base Band and Tracking subsystems, including the generation of Requirement definition and ICD specifications Implementation of relevant ECSS standards and CCSDS recommendations concerning Space Link Services and Space Link Extension SLE protocols Operation and configuration of various types of Baseband equipment including integrated TTC and ranging systems i.e. Cortex type and High Data Rate Modulators and Demodulators Maintenance and Operation of large Ground Stations particularly in Local and Remote MC including databases and automated procedures, redundancy management, Site Infrastructure and liaison with Service providers Analogue and digital modulationdemodulation schemes used on the Ground to Space interface for TTC, Mission data transmission and Data Collection Systems. Execution of Spacecraft interface verification testing, prior to launch in support of the SVT, and post launch in the form of RF IOT as part of Spacecraft Commissioning. The following skills would be highly desirable Commercial satellite and micro wave data links Basic knowledge of WAN, LAN and TCPIP protocol In Orbit Test I.O.T. systems deployment Radar Principles. Ground Segment Engineer 1620037 Job Description We are looking for a Ground Segment Engineer for our client EUMETSAT. You will be part of the Sentinel3 Operations team. Your overall responsibilities will deal with the Ground Segment maintenance and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination with the other S3 Ground Segments centres and Core Ground Stations at architectural and system engineering level and also for the related functions and interfaces with the EUMETSAT MultiMission Elements MMEs. You will also provide support to the AIV activities during the integration of the S3 ground Segment and shall coordinate the verification of the new systems and their interfaces into the EUMETSATs Sentinel3 ground segment. More specifically your tasks will include Preparing and providing support to the day to day operation and maintenance of the S3 Ground segment Analysis and ground segment level testing of the facilities. Handling of the anomalies raised during the operation of the system Design of upgrades and configuration of changes for these facilities at overall ground segment level. You will also maintain an uptodate set of Design and Interface Control Documents for the operational systems, performing technical analysis of system architecture and specification for evolutions or major upgrades of the S3 Ground Segment. Please note that you may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases. Required Skills and Experience At least 3 years experience in the area of System Engineering for the development or major upgrades of Ground Segments of Earth Observation missions, or main components of them, based on large scale software systems. Experience in supporting the operations development or major upgrades of Ground Segments of Earth Observation missions, or main components of them, as well as in the engineering evolutions of such components, with its test data and test tools, preferably in the area of 24h7d operational remote sensing satellites. Knowledge and experience is required in software development lifecycles, system testing for EO systems and the Ground System engineering processes and standards i.e. ECSS. Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Experience in Data Processing Ground Segments which are designed and developed taking advantage by the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System and Interfaces Engineering experience, in the frame of the development of new ground systems or major upgrades, for operational missions. Experience in Integration, Verification and Validation of Data Processing Ground Segments andor its major components.
