This is a permanent system engineering position, contributing to the verification and validation of the EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation programme. The work is related to the definition, specification and development of test tools and the generation of test data which are required to support system and ground segment VV activities. You will be placed on assignment based in Darmstadt Germany for several years. The starting time requirement is as soon as possible. EUMETSAT is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The role will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with a focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. The key experience and attributes sought are At least 3 years of general experience with onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. At least 3 years of handson involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data. At least 3 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Good skills in higher programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java. Knowledge of the following would be advantageous Direct involvement in preparation of test plans, specifications, procedures and reports. Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent.
