We are currently looking for a Galileo Ground Segment Engineer to work in the beautiful city of Prague. Galileo is Europes Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS, providing improved positioning and timing information with significant positive implications for many European services and users. The objective of this role is to support the ground segment engineering activities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Follow up of the G2G ground segment activities Review of the proposed architecture Analysis of the impact on G1G hosting entities Advise on the compatibility with current architecture and corresponding constraints Follow up of the hosting entities new equipment in the scope of G1G evolution Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters Degree in the relevant discipline. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Guidance and monitoring of the implementation of System Security Requirements by the EGNOS prime contractors, Follow up of the implementation of these requirements within the Segment design down to element level, Selection of evaluated secure element when COTS are selected or the follow up of the secure element evaluation during its development e.g. Common Criteria, Interaction with the Segment Prime contractors and its subcontractors for what concern security implementation, Site security measures, their definition and their implementation within the EGNOS Sites, Secure operations, the definition of the EGNOS SECOPS and the follow up of their implementation within EGNOS, Definition of the security operational measures in support to the security risk treatment required to cover identified security risk. Position Description The Station Computer II STCII is the central monitoring and control system for ESA ground stations. It is currently deployed on five ground stations of the ESA tracking network. The system is responsible for monitoring and controlling all ground station equipment, to apply all configurations necessary to support tracking of spacecraft and to receive telemetry from and to send telecommands to various spacecraft. The system implements a high degree of automation to support unmanned operation of ground stations in various Countries around the world. The STCII installed in the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt allows remote monitoring and control of all the supported ESA ground stations. The STCII system uses a configuration database, which configures the online system to operate on different ground stations and to support different spacecraft missions. Preparation of the configuration databases is supported by the socalled Ground Station Tailoring System GSTS. Emphasis of the project is in particular on the maintenance and the continuous development of the configuration databases tailoring. The design and development of the successor monitor and control system for the STCII will start in the next months and it will be based on a generic development between industry and the Agency. Consultancy in the design and development phase is expected as well as support in the migration to, and testing of, the new system. We are looking for an engineer to join the project team composed of 5 members working onsite at ESOC. Your future duties and responsibilities As part of the team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and the tailoring of the ESA Ground Station Monitoring and control system. You will be working onsite at ESOC in direct contact with the missions and the ground stations engineers, you will be involved in the daily live operations and in special events like, for instance, the launches and the critical manoeuvres. Most of the activities will be performed remotely from ESOC in Darmstadt, but occasional travels to the Ground Stations might be required. Project tasks will be Implementation of ground station and satellite specific procedures Configuration of the monitoring control system for new ground station devices and test preparation Installation and configuration of the tailoring system Requirements clarifications with the customer Provision of consultancy related to monitoring control system evolution Configuration of new ground station devices System commissioning on ground stations Configuration, setup, and validation of workstations and servers for deployment on ESA ground stations Setup of system test environment in ESA Test Station TCPIP network configuration System administration for related IT systems Required qualifications to be successful in this role You should have a university degree in an engineering discipline or similar and 23 years relevant experience. You are motivated, you have a proactive and problemsolving attitude. You are willing to learn, to take on new responsibilities and able to work both autonomously and as part of an international team. You are a quick learner and you have strong analytical skills.
