It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Mechanical Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Management of the Satellite Accommodation Structure verification, Mechanical subsystems including structure, mechanism, booms both in house and sub contract. Team management of thermal and propulsion architects plus dynamic analysis and drawing office personnel. Guidance to CAD operators in order to generate drawings and documents for satellite integration. Interfacing with Integration Verification to resolve problems as necessary. Preparation and evaluation of test plans and test reports. Maintenance of a data base of equipment mechanical qualification status. Validation of test results from the various phases of build subsystemspacecraft and where necessary defend these at customer delivery reviews. Management of the mechanical analysis team during satellite level environmental testing, including liaison to customer, launch service provider, test facilities and project management. Scheduling and cost controlling using company software. Management of in house and subcontract costs. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Ability to use FE modelling and vibration testing is mandatory. oAwareness of different disciplines communications, instrument and payload design, product assurancequality assurance, electronics, stress and fracture analysis fields would be a strong asset. Awareness of ECSS would be a plus, PC skills, word, excel, access, Literacy of simulation software e.g. FEM, Nastran is required, Presentation skills, verbal and written communication is required, Team Leadership Interpersonal skills are also necessary, English negotiation level. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Group Leader Mechanical Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. As the successful applicant you will manage and lead a team of up to 10 Mechanical Architects on Earth Observation, Navigation and Science Missions for Airbus Defense and Space. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Leadership and Management Allocation of staff to projects, bids. Process improvements and studies including test campaigns and LEOPs. Technical peer reviewing departmental and project documents approver. Departmental administration including staff workload planning, managing staff performance and attendance, on call detached duty and approval of travel expenses. Running departmental meetings. Managing project level mechanical architect responsibilities. Staff development, coaching and mentoring, recruitment, annual appraisals, and identification of training needs for staff. Project support may include chairing design reviews. Internal and external interfaces Internal interface with key project and engineering management plus ad hoc support to studies research and development activities and bids. External interfaces directly with key project customers mostly ESA and suppliers. Transnational process improvement and harmonisation with parallel TSPET entities in France and Germany. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Proven experience as a Mechanical Architect is necessary. Good leadership and communication skills are required. ASTM International Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies is working on a standard that will be used to evaluate mechanical properties for additively manufactured materials. WK49229, Guide for Anisotropy Effects in Mechanical Properties of AM Parts, will serve as a guideline for using currently available standards for measuring mechanical properties, such as fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth, specifically within realm of additive manufacturing.
