Development Engineer for Mechanical Analysis Key Tasks and Responsibilities You will have the following responsibilities Performance of static and dynamic mechanical analyses of science and earth observation satellites and their components Performance of mechanical stability performance analyses for space instruments and highly stable structures for space applications Mapping of thermal analysis on mechanical mathematical models and performance of thermal distortion analyses Performance of stress, strength and buckling analyses for structural components of satellites Performance of nonlinear mechanical analyses of structural components of satellites and multi body simulations Simulation and surveillance of vibration tests of satellites and their components Creation of static and dynamic mathematical models using the Finite Element Method FEM Creation of reduced mathematical models Application of the pre and postprocessing software PATRAN and the FEM solver NASTRAN Documentation and archiving of all activities, mathematical models and analysis and test results Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent Several years of professional experience in structural dynamics of light weight structures Detailed knowledge of the Finite Element Method and the corresponding tools Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. In this position you shall be responsible for the implementation of mechanical integration and test processes in our large space projects. Within the project you plan the mechanical integration and test campaigns and you establish the relevant documents like integration plan and procedures. The leading execution of mechanical integration and test campaigns is part of this position as well as the support to System Engineering, PA and Project Management for project decisions. You will work in an international project environment which is executed on the two major sites within Bremen and Munich. Your Tasks Independent concept and generation of the satellite mechanical integration and test procedures in one of our large space projects in compliance with functional requirements and cost plans Autonomous implementation of mechanical integration and test activities Definition of the MGSE in compliance with technical parameters and cost requirements, support the MGSE procurement taking into account the budget and schedule constraints Support of the Project and System Engineering Teams throughout all project phases with regard to mechanical AIT aspects, be prepared to interface with customers and subcontractors Interface and harmonize with the teams of related disciplines like Optics, Electric, Work preparation and manufacturing Preparation and implementation of standard AIT boards such as TRR, PTR and TRB, participation in project reviews Impact Assessment on problems and nonconformances with the proper documentation and proactive seeking of support of other experts when necessary Timely preparation and compilation of required AIT documents, such as AIT plans, procedures and test reports In cooperation with Product Assurance conducting inspections, keeping logsheet records, compilation of nonconformance and problem reports Your Qualifications Diploma in mechanical engineering, physics or similar or qualified practical apprenticeship with extensive experience Practical experience within satellite space projects, in particular in Phase CD, experience in mechanical integration and generation of mechanical integration procedures Ability to establish and work according to integration procedures and to assure the necessary documentation Organized and structured task approach, high degree of motivation and personal identification with the respective task and project Strong focus on reaching progress by thinking and communicating in terms of solutions, ability to reach goals also under schedule pressure Willingness for intensive travel, work on mission, work in test campaigns and in shift Excellent communication skills, ability to work in teams, good written and oral English An advantage would be Experience in optical Alignment using Laser Trackers and Theodolites Experience in AIT related Propulsion subsystem aspects
