Leading the mechanical systems engineering tasks of assemblies in the frame of the spacecraft related project Development and follow up of requirements and specifications Load definition Advancement of analytical and numerical tools and procedures for static and dynamic analyses Definition of the mechanical development and qualification logic Coordination of the mechanical analyses Supervising the analyses Preparation of tradeoff Supporting the development and production planning Work and resource planning Supporting the verification and qualification plan Control and guidance of the project progress from a mechanical point of view Compilation of the relevant documents Representing all mechanical aspects within the project and to the relevant costumer and partners Preparation of proposals Definition of the content Estimation of costs We are looking for candidates with the following skills Engineer degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering or similar Extensive knowledge in structural mechanics and mechanism Extensive knowledge in leading projects from a mechanical point of view as lead engineer Experience in leading teams Analytical and presentation skills Negotiation level in English and German, French would be a plus TO APPLY click here

A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Manager with Astrium Satellites in Stevenage. The successful candidate will support the Assembly, Integration and Testing of Prime Science Projects including BepiColumbo, Solar Orbiter and LISA Pathfinder. You will be responsible for the allocation of operational Mechanical team resources across projects, and overseeing the development and deployment of mechanical Integration and test methods and processes across projects. You will be responsible for managing a team of mechanical AIT engineers, carrying out appraisals, administration, training and recruitment of new staff. You may also support technical discussions around all mechanical aspects across projects. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Overseeing the development and deployment of mechanical Integration and test methods and processes across projects Implement best industry practices Work closely with management team and HR function on organisational design in order to assess skills and training needs, workforce and succession planning Responsible for the Mechanical Assembly, Integration and Testing element and lead the Mechanical team on projects through phases A,B , CD and E Produce specs from test requirements, write test plans, test procedures and test reports Logistics control of all project Mechanical Ground Support Equipment, flight hardware and support equipment Alignment producing test procedures and operating and maintaining Optical alignment equipment Designing of test equipment, overseeing its manufacture, and commissioning Mechanical handling of Spacecraft, Instruments, payloads, solar arrays, antenna etc. Prepare and carry out environmental tests Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal at unit, subsystem, instrument and spacecraft level. Install and validate test instrumentation. Thermocouples, accelerometer, tilt sensors Support propulsion testing Handling and installation of thermal hardware Mechanical integration and testing of electronic units, subsystems and instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical subsystems, instruments, payloads and spacecraft and control the documentation associated with performing these tasks. Pyrotechnic handling, installation and safety The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline Extensive experience of working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within Aerospacedefence industries Good knowledge of Mechanical build and testing Recent people management experience and proven leadership abilities as well as a track record of performance management Production of high quality documentation test specs, test plans, test procedures, AIT Plans Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising and organising workload effectively, and working to strict deadlines Excellent clear communication to all interfaces Willingness to travel overseas to support operations Desirable Experience of producing test procedures and operating and maintain Opticaling alignment equipment TO APPLY click here
