Although environmental conditions are only marginally conducive during the next couple of days, some slight development of this system is possible as it drifts generally southwestward over warmer waters. Environmental conditions remain favorable for continued development, and a tropical depression is likely to form tonight or on Wednesday while the low moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent. An area of low pressure is forecast to develop well south of the coast of southern Mexico late this week and move westward at 10 to 15 mph.
