The low is producing a concentrated area of showers and thunderstorms over the eastern portion of the system. Environmental conditions are forecast to be favorable for development, and a tropical depression is likely to form in a couple of days while the low moves westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. An area of low pressure is forecast to develop south or southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec late this week and move westward at 10 to 15 mph, well offshore of the southern coast of Mexico.
