This is an opportunity for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to work in the domain of satellite operations to start latest 1st of January 2016. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES This position is covering a Sentinels Spacecraft Operations Engineering service support request, within the Sentinels Copernicus Teams, to provide general operational support, both in the platform andor instruments area. This position is a fulltime longterm position and requires occasional travel within Europe, ca. 2 missions per annum. The Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE is responsible For the support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCT during the operational phases, including special operations i.e. LEOP, Commissioning, deorbiting.. For the participation to testing campaigns Simulations, SVT, inflight tests of the above mentioned missions This SOE service team element within the Sentinels missions includes the following responsibilities Act as Expert operations engineer providing support to the platform andor Instruments Validation, test and operation of the MCS, including the OBSM and Mission Planning System Validation, test and operation of the Simulator Generation, validation and maintenance of the FOP Support to test and operate the NDIU Support for FOS procurement, integration and tests Review of satellite documents LEOP support general operational support Commissioning support general operational support of the assigned Sentinels Missions, and provide expertise on those areas to the any of the other Sentinels SOMs when required. The SOE is required to familiarise himherself with the missions heshe is supporting and in particular with the procedures and tools that are needed to perform the Sentinel operations. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. The tasks to be performed are those typical for a spacecraft operations engineer, which include familiarizing with the mission characteristics, defining requirements for flight control systems, preparing and validating flight control procedures, validating ground systems used for operations, participating in spacecraft interface tests, and spacecraft performance analysis. Each SOE will be responsible for specific areas of the spacecraft or ground systems operations engineering. These areas are grouped together as follows 1. Optical communications payloads laser links, Sentinels OCP, etc operations engineering and guidance and navigation AOCS operations engineering 2. Optical communications payloads operations planning and overall ground segment verification engineering 3. Optical imaging sensors especially in the area of spectrometry, e.g. GOME, SCIMACHY, TROPOMI operations preparation andor execution, including Xband and PDHU data storage subsystem management 4. Spacecraft data handling operations engineering and overall ground segment verification 5. General platform andor instruments operational support for operations preparation and execution 6.
